A interesting wetlands. I loved the underwater roof/ceiling of the toilet block, rest room. We had a guided tour of the wetlands and did see some bird life. I would say to really get the most of the nature reserve you need to be 100% into your wildlife.

It was a great day to see nature how it should be. the day we went we really didnt see much wildlife except one bluwe hering, and thes small black crabs that looked like giant spiders. However it was a really fun relaxing day.

My wife and I visited while on vacation. The visitor center was under construction,so it started off as a very confusing visit. We walked up to the visitor center and checked it out, as well as the Gift Shop. We thought the tour would start from here, but we could not find the walking path to start, so we got in our car to leave. Once we got in our car, we noticed the entry point into the preserve, no one in the visitor center told us that the preserve was a drive-thru attraction. Once we paid and drove through the preserve, we had a great time.

We did the boat trip first. Wow! Justin, the guide was brilliant. So passionate and knowledgable...and Craig, the captain was great too. We saw loads, including a shark feeding in the shallows!!!!
Then we took the wildlife drive and we're really pleased to see a roseate spoonbill and osprey sitting close to each other in the flats. The staff in the education centre were equally as helpful and pleasant. Thanks for a great day

Nice place. Very interesting. Not a lot of shade if you are on a bike. Lots of birds. Only 1 dollar for hikers or bikers.

Great place to spend a couple of hours, get some walking in, and view some amazing nature. And it’s free. Even though busy it didn't feel crowded.

Riding a bicycle through the wildlife drive is an incredible experience! Make sure you are prepared with plenty of water, sunscreen, and bug spray. I was amazed at the number of birds I saw even in the dead heat of summer! A wading flock of over 30 roseate spoonbills left me speechless, not to mention the yellow-crowned night herons that seemed to be lurking in every corner.
I think many of the sights could be enjoyed via car since you can park on the side of the road and walk down the boardwalks or climb the observation tower.
The visitor center is a must-see with incredible exhibits on Florida's ecosystems/wildlife and the history of JN "Ding" Darling's work as an editorial cartoonist and champion for conservation.

I road a bike to Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge in the past, but do not recall seeing location of paddleboard rental - I entered what I think was a Visitor Center when I first arrived - is the rental near there? I looked on the website and could not find an answer.

Kayak rental, and paddleboard (? I'm not sure) is in the refuge but a different entrance - off Tarpon Bay Road at Tarpon Bay Explorers. Try that anyway - I kayaked there and it was beautiful.

, what is the charge for the tram with the guide? We have a party of 13 which includes 9 dults and 4 kids. How many times a day do you go out? Also, can you drive a golf cart through there? How long is the tour? We are coming the Monday of Thanksgiving week.

The closest bike rentals to the refuge. Great for tram rides, boat tours, fishing charters and more!

Yes dogs are allowed if under co training and on a 6ft leash. Only service dogs allowed in the free visitor center.

Is any of the refuge wheelchair acccessible? Can someone with a mobility challenge get on the tram? Would be helpful if you posted this info on your website.

You can take them around in your vehicle and no need to rush. Road is not paved so unless they have a specializes wheel chair with turf tires I would not suggest pushing them along the road. There are sections with nice boardwalk where to take them into the woods out to the water line to see the birds and fish jumping out of the water
I don’t see the team as a comfortable way to drive the site, use your car or van and take your time and pick your spots to get out
