Went Seeking Manatees
During the week in Feb. when I was visiting the area, I had a chance to walk down the road and over to the park. We were looking for the manatees who, when it is chilly out, come to hang out in the waters of the park. Alas, not a one on the day we had walked over. It is one of many places in the area to get a good walk in and to also view pretty scenery.

Awesome little park!
Just happened to stop at this little park as my husband and i were scouting out areas to fish. There are lovely docks to fish from here and at the neighboring Jenkins Creek Park. (across the road). There are picnic tables, an observation tower and boardwalk along the canal (Jenkins creek) along with bathroom facilities.
Best of all, there were also manatees warming up in the creek along one of the boardwalks! What a lovely surprise that was!!
Well worth the stop!!

More than meets the eye in this manatee hotspot

This park is a hotspot for the locals try to fish for mullet and whatnot. I'm not big on fishing, I was out for the more visually appeally aspect of this park. The tower is interesting if one desires a better view of the surroundings. The little beach area in the back is quaint but fun and includes a little playground for the children. The manatee frequented though the weather was rather cold recently so I believe they were migrating to and from the little "hidden" gem of a spring. There are many paths for walking and/or finding that ideal area from the bank to cast a line. There's also a kayak launch for those preferring to take to the water. It's pretty dense and the no-see-em's can be all teeth so I'd suggest some kind of fly repellent. Also there are no vending machines or concession stands so if you're going to make a day of it bring supplies.

Outdoor fun
It is very peaceful in this park. You can fish or launch your boat. It is large enough so that you can walk around. I like the little bridge and the strip of land that you can go to.

Nice little park

Nice little park that’s tucked away. Small play ground for children and lots of picnic tables. Very nice kayak launch and swimming hole . There’s a look out tower that has a fantastic view of the sunset over the gulf. Worth checking out if you are visiting or living in Hernando county.

See manatees, fishing, bird watching
Great place to take the kid, so much to do - the playground is much improved over the past couple years, there is a boardwalk along the water where manatees can be seen swimming often, a foot bridge across to the other side of the park where you can climb many steps to the top of the observatory for great views of the area, picnics tables scattered along the water, and many locals fish along the banks. Lots to do at this little park!

Great place to see manatees!
We go there at least once a week and launch our kayaks. We go out on the trail, but not before paddling around near the swimming area to see if the manatees are hanging out in the morning. So beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommend!

Gulf of Mexico location
Free admission. Plenty of free parking. Located on a short shallow waterway (canal) off the Gulf of Mexico. Nearby small boat rental available, and a small free admission beach for swimming. Walk the paved roads and trails under great pine and oak trees. Have a Picnic in a pavilion. Ride your bike. Sit and read, or just think. Rest rooms usually open during daylight hours. Great place for photography and selfies. Climb the 50 foot observation tower and watch the sun set in the Gulf of Mexico. If you are lucky, from the tower you may see free flying American Eagles. NO HUNTING! Park is clean and orderly. Please keep it this way. Fishing available along the banks of the canal. Park is patrolled by Law Enforcement and County officials. Daylight hours only.
