Great History Museum

We went with 3 adults and a 14, 12, and 8 year old. This museum was very well done with a lot of hands-on activities for the kids to use. I recommend watching all the videos if possible. They are presented very well and we all learned a lot. We spent about 2.5 hours but could have spent more time reading all the information on the signs but our kids were getting hungry. There is a restaurant on site called the Colombian Cafe. We sat outside by the water, which was lovely. The food served is Cuban. It was delicious. There is a kids menu. The meals are about $15-$18 a plate for the full plates. But there are other options that are a little cheaper. All in all, it was a great morning learning about our wonderful state.

Perfect history museum for families with young kids!

If you’d like the broadest look at Tampa history with exhibits that entertain both adults and young kids alike, this is your museum:) The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because it’s pretty pricey.

Tampa Treasure

We started by watching a short film on Tampa the strolled through the multi-level museum. My favorite exhibit dealt with pirates and treasure hunting, encompassed most of 4th floor. It was so well done with a combination of static displays and interactive exhibits.
The museum covers all facets of the history it Tampa from pre-Spanish exploration through current times.

Great displays

Very nicely done! Really good walk through if the area’s history beginning with the Native American inhabitants. Very informative displays. Layout over three floors, all accessible. Plenty of room, things are not crowded in. Cute gift shop and Colombian restaurant on the veranda. Plan on 2-3 hours and definitely plan lunch. We parked by the Aquarium and walked, it was only $10 for all day parking.

Interesting historical displays of early Florida inhabitants.
Short video shows were very informative as well as entertaining.
Excellent Cuban restaurant in facility.

Excellent museum

This is a very nice museum. Very clean, very well thought out, and we learned a lot. We were really impressed with the various shows they’ve put together, and they included quite a bit of kid friendly areas as well. If you’re visiting Tampa and enjoy history museums, this is definitely worth the time.

Bonus! There’s a Columbia (restaurant) Cafe on site, which is NEVER a bad idea. Also, the museum is located on the River Walk, so you can enjoy a nice stroll along the water as well.

Good Museum

We spent about one plus hour here. We were late in the day or we would have spent a bit more time. I really liked what they had for WW II.

Pleasantly surprised and enjoyable

Tour guide Becky was absolutely amazing. Ask for her if you don’t want to be disappointed. I loved this place. Something that both children and adults can enjoy and learn. Thank you to the Viniks for contributing to our community. The Havana temporary exhibit was done so very well.
