A lovely shrine and meaningful place to visit and pray. It is a small building but beautifully done. We stayed probably 20-30 minutes and left happy that we had stopped by. It is in an older neighborhood so you have to keep your eye out for it.

Church was built in 1941 in honor of Saint Michael for the miraculous cure of her son. Lots of miracles happened here. The altar was magnificent, very ornate.

Quaint little chapel-like building, full of light. Most visitors were actively praying or worshiping. Non-participant spectators need to be aware and respectful.

We heard about this small church from one of the shop owners in Tarpon Springs so we decided to take the short walk over, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to see and experience this beautiful little chapel! The lady who takes care of the church was chanting beautifully while we were there. Highly recommend taking the time to see this "secret" gem!

We heard about this church from friends. Definitely worth the trip. Such a beautiful tiny church. They have healing oils, holy water, candles to light. The lady that takes care of the church is so sweet. The town is very nice to see also. Has lots of shops and eateries.

aka St. Michael’s Shrine, this small chapel overlooks an actual shrine. At age 11 almost 79 years ago, a boy fell ill. His sister, Goldie Parr, had the shrine constructed in honor of Taxiarchis (Archangel) Michael, believed to cure those with cancer or other serious illnesses. Goldie prayed that Michael would save her brother. Shortly afterward, her brother was miraculously cured.
Private guided tours of the chapel, shrine, and grounds are available, but the Saturday in early June that I visited, I was unaware of this and had not learned when a tour was available. I made a donation—much needed to maintain the chapel and shrine—and enjoyed the ambiance of the chapel for a few minutes. There are four stained glass windows, and perhaps a dozen pews. This is an active religious site. Decorum and respect are essential. My high rating is earned by the volunteers who maintain this religious site in pristine condition. It humbled me, and took me back many decades to mornings in church, where congregants were respectful and came to learn about religious teachings.
The Greek Orthodox Church congregation celebrates the Feast Day of Archangel Michael on November 8. Taxiarchis is the name given to Michael or Gabriel. It literally means “commander” [of a taxis, or squadron] and is usually translated into English as archangel. Both Michael and Gabriel are commemorated in liturgical texts as “Commander of the Bodiless Hosts.” Saints be praised.

A small, holy site dedicated to St. Michael not to far from Tampa. We were in Daytona Beach and drove over to visit the shrine after hearing about it. I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

I noticed a comment from June but wanted to ensure shrine was open for August with everything going on I’d like to travel there from Texas no info on Facebook or website if anyone knows please help with hours

Maria: This is not a normal "attraction." It is an active house of worship, a small chapel. The shrine is in the chapel. I visited in mid-June, when many facilities began reopening. That said, Saint Nicholas cathedral was not holding religious services. I live near Orlando and can't find a website that features when the chapel/shrine are open for viewing. It is at 113 Hope Street. Look for the blue cross atop the gable of a small building. Since the congregation is small and this horrid pandemic has reduced the number of visitors, I recommend a donation of as much as your travel budget allows. I discovered a serenity and humbleness not experienced since I witnessed "Giving of Alms" in Luang Prabang, Laos many years ago.
When in Tarpon Springs, it is a 10-minute walk south of Sponge Docks. For dining, I recommend Hellas, at Sponge Docks.
Is there a phone number to see if the Shrine is open during COVID 19 -Live in Georgia was wanting to drive down to visit this Friday 4/21/2020

Parking on the street in front of St-Michael's Shrine is a peace of cake, its is a very quiet street and plenty of space.. I have returned twice since I wrote this review and I will be returning again, each time I go, only a few people are present. yesterday I walked from the Sponge Docks. Yes parking off the street is EASY and FREE !
