A wonderful place for dogs to run free and enjoy the sand and water. My dog can't wait when he sees we are in the parking area

Clueless that beaches along the gulf coast are not pet friendly, we ended up on this beach with our pup. No words can describe this beach, and not in a good way! I compare it to being on the beach with tons of unsupervised children running around. Yes the dogs were cute and frolicking about like children chasing each other and playing. The owners on the other hand were sitting in their beach chairs enjoying their day as their dogs pissed, pooped, ran over peoples beach blankets, put their noses in peoples beach bags and retrieved food and ran away with it. We watched as a family with a small dog trailing behind them wearing an “emotional support” vest named Joey, kept walking as the dog stopped and pooped on the beach. They were completely oblivious that the dog had stopped and just kept yelling the dogs name without turning around to see what the dog was doing. The concept of having a dog park on the beach is nice, however when you have irresponsible pet owners the place becomes a cesspool and is not enjoyable or safe to walk on. I can’t imagine the fecal content if they tested this sand. Sad that you can’t bring a pup on any other beach and keep it leashed.

I love this beach. I have no use for the other beautiful beaches in Venice. I would come here even if I didn’t have a dog. I love this beach so much, that I purchased a beach cart, umbrella and beach chairs. I am only here for two months and cannot take any of this home with me, but I don’t care. The people are very friendly as are most dogs. If any problem develops among or between dogs, the owners intervene immediately. There is no loud music blaring. In fact there is no music at all. The age of most beach goers is between 45-85. There are some younger people and grandchildren but not many. The dogs have the best time in the world! Those that love the water are able to swim out into the Gulf and fetch. The Gulf has been very calm most of January and February. Our Labrador retriever does not like the water; however, he is in love with the other dogs and people and will do Zoomies around the whole beach…a very large and spacious beach. The beach is clean, has a great walkway from the parking lot, offers hundreds of poop bags and is well-maintained. There are showers for humans and for dogs. There is a drinking fountain for both. There are restroom facilities off the parking lot. I love this beach! Shhhh….don’t tell anyone about it : -)

It's an awesome beach with great people just hanging out and having fun. The dogs have a great time swimming and running. It was clean and fun and I highly recommend it. We need more places like this!

We are down from Michigan and brought our dog Maggie for her first road trip.
We’ve been to lots of dog parks and this one is incredible!
Lots of parking, restrooms are available and a beautiful clean beach. It was like doggie heaven with well behaved dogs running around and frolicking into the ocean.
What a wonderful experience!

Worth the trip.... You can hang out on the beach while giving your dog a place to swim! Enter thru dog park fence that opens to a beach area once you cross a bridge. Parked in lot next to small dog park lot. We had no problems with other dogs. We'll be back!!!

We would visit early morning, and usually sunset. Enjoyed seeing such a happy group of dogs. Every owner watched their dog closely too.

This beach is for the dogs, not so much for people! The dogs run free, doing dog things. They run up and down the beach barking, growling, and play fighting. If you have food they're going to be your best friend. I watched a guy trying to eat a hamburger while sitting in a low beach chair. Of course, he got mugged! They're going to kick sand on you as they run by. They may even pee on your beach bag. If any of this would bother you, leave Fido home and go to one of the many other beautiful beaches in the area.

My husband, border collie, and I have always had a great experience at this beach. Friendly pups and friendly people abound. Everyone we've met (dogs and people alike) are respectful. We like to hang out near the dunes and enjoy the comings and goings of others, as well as walk the length of the dog beach and play in the water with our pup.

Hello, sorry to say, I am not sure. I don't even have a dog but wanted to watch other people's dogs play on the beach and surf. I don't live close to this and haven't been back. I wish I could be more help.

There is a chainlink-fenced area just off the parking lot and it has a separately marked area for small dogs. It also has covered shelters and water available (for drinking and hosing of a sand-covered pet).
Also if the dog park lot is full, just continue farther down the road about a quarter of a mile and park in the much larger lot. You can walk your leashed dog out to the water and turn north (right) toward the dog friendly section to go off leash (there are signs on the dunes clearly marking the boundaries between where the dogs can go).
PLEASE help us keep it clean, pick up your dog's poop!!! There are bags in the dog park section and also at the end of the crossover as you enter the beach area.

Is there a place to park a rv for the day while visiting the beach? Is the parking lot big enough to pull a rv in?

I believe so. We live down here and don’t have an RV so we don’t pay that much attention. You could park on the road and walk over. Our kids (adult) and grand dog loved this beach. Safe for everyone which is important to me as the Mom.

7:00 a.m. til dusk, but I've been there at 6:30 a.m. when there's enough light with no problem. Local daily users do a great job of picking up after their dogs. Weekenders, not so much although the paw park and sidewalk to the beach has free waste disposal bags and plenty of waste containers.

i live in sarasota so,,,41 south,,take 41 bypass,,turn right on miami,,go straight to harbour drive left,,takes you right to BROHARD DOG PARK,,,they have bags, rinse off ,,small entrance and large ent,,,,it will be fun,,,enjoy

The actual beach is not fenced in. After you park your car, the area that you enter is fenced in. That's where the dogs can get water and play. Then you exit another gate, and there's a couple of minutes walk along a path to the actual beach.
