I'm a very "pro dog" person, but wouldn't take mine to this park. There's close to a hundred squirrels that live on the island that literally run up to you begging for peanuts. Many people walk the sidewalks in the morning for exercise. They've recently complained about people feeding the squirrels because they are approached regularly, but honestly, that's my favorite part. :) They have a water feeder set up for them to drink out of, which tells me that I'm not the only one that enjoys them. When my nephews come into town, I always take them there to feed the squirrels and to take photos. They absolutely love it. So peaceful.

There are benches to sit and meditate, would not have a picnic there. Just outside of the memorial there are numerous tables which have a roof over them and grills to use and also have restrooms.
