Extremely disappointed in the kayaking trip. You used to be able to go for 4 hours. You used to be able to pull over and swim or have a snack break. Not anymore. There was also a line of kayakers the whole way. It is now a 2 hour only trip but from beginning to end it only took us 1 hour and 5 minutes! So disappointed. No longer my favorite kayaking destination.

Great place, great value for your $$.
The Springs were great - but get there early. They cap tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis (smart). The rental prices inside are also reasonable (and worth it). An umbrella for the day is $15 - you'll need it in spring or summer.
If you go down to Weeki Fresh Water Adventures - the paddle (cayak) only takes about 90 minutes. It's beautiful, and well worth the time and $. Definitely do it... BUT - you DON'T have to buy tickets to the Springs park to do the kayaks. They are an independent operator.
Both great things to do with family and friends.

The river is absolutely beautiful. That's it. Years ago this trip was easily 5 stars and one of the best places to visit in Florida. The kayak trip has now been cut in half from about 6 miles down to 3. Completly eliminating the areas where you can see manatees. Also, there is now no swimming or fishing. Also, there is now a two hour limit that makes you feel rushed the entire time. I would avoid this place and try one of the other springs.

The staff were very helpful at checkout, put in, getting out of the Kayak and the bus ride back. The water is crystal clear. The fish were incredible. The weather was perfect. The cost was extremely affordable for a two person Kayak trip down the Weekie Wachee.

Super easy online scheduling Courteous and friendly staff. Easy paddle through the park They limit the number of people on the river at one time. Prevents over crowding on the river

I used to love WW. After the way you snubbed the mermaids that MADE you and robbed them of that moment. Never Again! I will not support your selfishness.

I had been to the Weeki Wachee waterpark/mermaid show before, and to be completely honest I did not understand the hype about this place. Then yesterday (May 2023) we rented paddle boards to go down the river and now I get it!
We almost cancelled our reservation that morning because the forecast predicted a thunderstorm, but the weather ended up being absolutely perfect (not a drop of rain).
We were a group of 5 adults and 4 had never paddle boarded before. We all had an absolute blast. We failed to arrive early like they suggest, which was no problem. They have a changing room and bathrooms available, and they also have a little store where they sell sunscreen, hats, waterproof bags, waterproof phone cases, etc, in case you forget anything!
As soon as you see the color and clarity of the river, your mind will be absolutely blown. We saw many schools of fish in the crystal-clear water which was a perfect temperature (stays the same temp year-round). This place feels like you're in an influencer's video from some remote paradise with filters applied - but it's actually real.
We wore long-sleeved swim gear for sun protection and brought sunglasses, hats, sunscreen, flip flops, insulated tumblers with electrolytes and deep woods bug spray, because at the END of the river there are some biting flies. Those were a little annoying but did not ruin the experience what-so-ever.
We didn't see a single alligator or snake, although the staff did tell us there were snakes around (not surprising as this is Florida). We didn't see any manatee either, since it's already basically summer.
It took us a full 2 hours (maybe even a little more) and we took our time. One of us fell off their board a couple times, so we parked for a second in a shallow area to re-group. There are signs posted all over saying DO NOT GET OFF YOUR VESSEL because they want to protect the environment, and you're not allowed to bring anything disposable on the river (ziplock bags, wrappers, etc). We left snacks in our car in a cooler and just brought necessities.
The staff wait for you at the end to help you out of the river, and you share an air-conditioned van that drives you back to the parking lot (takes about 10 minutes).
I can't recommend this activity enough - it's a must do! I can not believe the value of what you get compared with the cost (we each paid $40). We will definitely be back!

I love the beautiful and clear waters of the weeki wachee. Even though we didn't see any manatees this time it was an amazing, memorable trip!

No, so when you approach, you’ll see a large car park for the theme park, go off to the left hand side in your car, you’ll see a sign & its down a slope to the separate car park for water activities. You’ll have a wonderful time x

I looked on the State Park website and they are not listed, so I don't think there's on line info about the food $$.
What time is best to get there to see the show and the river ride? Do you need reservations?

We are thinking of doing kayaking and swimming with manatees with the family in early April. Is weeki wachee or crystal river/three sisters springs better? We would like to actually get out of the kayaks to swim.

Manatees are most abundant when the Gulf dips below 70, mostly January and February, on the west coast of FL.

Can you swim here in January or is it too cold?

I believe the State Park rules state you must stay in your kayak and no swimming allowed. There are a few places to pull over and get out but the water is 72 degrees all year and Jan temps will be cool.

If you rent a kayak at the Park, and don't paddle-let the current take you along-you may be able to push it to 2 hours, and that was after we stopped for lunch and got a little wet b4 getting back in. We still had about 15 mins left-but went ahead and got out to take the coach/bus back to our car. If you bring your own kayak and launch from there-we used to do the trip in about 5 hours-taking lunch, stopping several times to swim, enjoy the ropes to jump off of. That is no longer allowed. You aren't even sup to get out of your kayak now-signs posted every 100 yards or so-not to get out of your vessel. So if you rent from the park, don't bother taking lunch-just something to drink. If you have your own kayak, it is a wonderful 3-4 hour trip-that's if you don't get out and swim, etc. Remember the signs to "stay in your vessel at all times". You have to arrange your own transportation to get out at Rogers Park, maybe have a friend drop you and your kayaks at the state park, then have them drive to Rogers Park to be able to pick you up. There USED to be a swim area there that your friend can enjoy-but since we didn't get to paddle that far, I don't know if that's still an option. You may want to google Rogers Park and see if they still allow swimming there. I hope this helps!
