"We visited this place expecting an authentic elephant sanctuary, but we left disappointed. Although they claim that 100% of the funds go towards the care of the elephants, it doesn’t seem to be linked to any recognized rescue organization, and the animals were actually bought many years ago, not rescued. The space we saw was quite small compared to what we had expected. We paid very high prices, gladly thinking we were supporting a good cause, but left with a bad impression. The owner, who gave the tour, was quite rude and unapproachable when answering questions. Even though we took lovely photos, we don’t feel like returning."

Looks are deceiving. You DONT actually get to walk around and see the elephants. You get to see 1 elephant for pictures or a ride. We choose to feed the elephants for $5 but it’s soo quick- you aren’t allowed a photo opportunity. It all felt very rushed, which was sad. We spent 30min sitting under a covered porch with no airflow to hear a grumpy lady talk about her elephants. Then we walked a very short distance to look at 1 zebra, 1 camel, a small family of lemurs and tortoises. We were really under the impression we could view ALL THE ELEPHANTS- nope.

It was a awesome experience. We can just touch the elephant briefly to feel the skin
Patricia, the owner and guide was wonderful, pleasant and funny.
Actually we learned facts about the elephants that we didn’t know.
Great experience, fun day

We drove a long way to have our Extreme Encounter (US$200.00 each). The owner Patricia, was not welcoming and seemed angry and bothered to be doing this tour. She talked about the elephants and her experience and made it clear she is not happy with the choice she made to look after them. Patricia didn't want Two Tails Ranch to be called a Sanctuary nor a Rescue. I was not clear why she seemed so bothered by these descriptions. She actually said that elephants don't feel love and affection!!! I couldn't believe this!!! She also used a goad or bullhook which was surprising!! By the way, she often smoked which was very inappropriate.
We understood it would be a one on one experience but we were included in a large group of people who had not paid for the Extreme Encounter. We had to wait for everyone to feed the elephants, take photos and ride the elephant. Only one elephant Shelly) for everyone to ride. She was impatient with everyone. After waiting for all to ride she expected us to ride together and we wanted to have our own ride. She was clearly not happy with that!! When I was on the elephant she used the bullhook to make the elephant walk faster!
We were so looking forward to bathing the elephant. Since it took so long for everyone to ride, she decided it was "too cold" for them to be bathed. It was quite warm and sunny. We were only allowed to stand by one side of the elephant and dry brush her for a few minutes. Patricia took photos and while we were talking , Shelly was clearly curious about us, wanting to smell us and Patricia kept telling her to go away, very impatiently. So much for our special encounter...
Conclusion:
We met two elephants. They were gentle, sweet and calm.
It seemed to us that animals (zebra, camel, lemurs, ostrich and elephants) are well fed but there was no water in the elephant enclosures.
We heard people behind us commenting on her attitude and the use of the bullhook.
Our plan was to go back next year with grandchildren. We will not be going back.

Two Tails ranch is an experience I will never forget as being awesome, fun and so interesting. The elephants, other animals, owner and staff were very interesting and engaging to us. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed getting up close and personal with the elephants and animals. We did the extreme encounter tour that was worth every penny and that lasted almost 3 hours conducted exclusively by Patricia Z. (owner). It was especially interesting to learn a little about Patricia’s life caring for elephants and how mankind was slowly crowding out the elephant and its natural habitat. Patricia has a first hand world-wide perspective and was engaging as well as easy to talk with. We learned so much about elephants, like how to tell the difference between African and Asian, their herding habits and their social disposition and instincts. The people at Two Tails have the passion and dedication to maintain a sanctuary for elephants that is nicer then any zoo I have visited and are to be commended for their efforts. They are dedicated to making as much of a difference as they can.
It is so boring to read the remarks by lame brains putting down others for making a difference on their own without government funding. These nitwits want to see a spic and span, phony happy face like you see at Disney or similar for-profit businesses. It is hard for some to face the reality of dedicating your life to a noble cause no matter the cost in money or time. It is much easier to complain and criticize and minimize others because you do not understand sacrifice for something greater then yourself. Grow up!!!!

This place was fun but the owner was undone! My sister and I had a great time. We went to hang out with the elephants. We did the ultimate experience where we got to feed, bathe and hang with a couple elephants. The experience was great. The owner not so much. She most definitely is not a people person. She isn’t very friendly, she smokes cigarettes at chance she gets (even hiding behind elephants while you are interacting with them) she seemed very annoyed with people and their questions. Yes, some people may not be bright but she pretty much let them know it by her reactions and answers. She was surprised no one else had questions. I’m sure everyone was afraid to ask as her responses wasn’t always pleasant. She may do good with these animals but she didn’t do well with the folks who were there trying to education themselves more. Worth the money if you can ignore folks like her. We went to hang with elephants and we did just that. Would we go back or recommend.. probably not.

I went for their advertised ‘Elephant Appreciation Day’. Wished I would have read Google reviews before attending. Almost 100 degrees outside, no water in sight for elephant/ tortoise or zebra. Zebra pacing up and down a tiny fenced enclosure, elephant rocking back and forth on front legs and large tortoise trying to climb out of 12x12 enclosure. Music blaring out of speakers located in the elephant enclosure. So wished I had not come. Stressed and depressed after witnessing this nightmarish place. Ashamed I had contributed to the exploitation of these precious sentient beings who have to endure living here. PETA where are you?

I'm proud of the owner, she keep all the animals safe. As the public could view animals, however they could not put their hands in the enclosures and pet/maul them. As the owner's presents was evident everyone was totally respectful of their surroundings, no screaming, or yelling, or running and no littering. We attended Elephant Appreciation Day 2023. All the animals were healthy, happy, content, and well fed. If you truly want to appreciate the existence of our greatly endangered elephants than this was a magical blessing. However, if you were expecting a cheap carnival free-for-all you would be sadly disappointed because everything was respectful of the beautiful animals on our planet. All thumps up. Two Tails had camels, lemurs, and tortoises. They had a zebra, a porcupine, and of course elephants!! A small gift shop, and shady places to sit.

While the visit was very informative about the caretaking of elephants and the other animals on the property, the proprietor could have used some finesse in dealing with the public. I found her to be very gruff and unappreciative of the visitors. I felt as if we were an interruption of her day. I also think that there should be a age minimum for visitors, it is not a place for young children, they get bored and cranky and make it difficult to hear during the tour.

You can chose the close up encounter for $200 or go ala carte. The prices I remember are: admission =20, feeding =5, ride =40. They also have a picture with elephant option. With the encounter you also get one of the pictures that an elephant painted. It was worth the price to me.

There are several areas for camping/RVing. Gainesville is nearby and Ocala (Ocala National Forest). There is also Paynes Prairie State Park off I-75.

How long was the exttream encounter and what did you do when your children did it....could you watch?
撰写日期:2018年7月19日
It was sooooo awesome and went WAY too fast. I can't recall how much longer the Extreme Encounter went, I'd say maybe an hour and a half or so longer than the normal admission. They don't rush you. You can ask as many questions as you want. As a parent, I'd advise joining your kids! It was one of THE most memorable things we ever shared together. If you don't want to join, it's very easy to watch. I'd do this again in a heartbeat!

Please can you tell me how I can book and elephant interaction ?

I was so enthralled as I never did this as a child and always wanted to. It was about 10 minutes, maybe 15 minutes.

The cost of the tour is $20 for adults. I think kids are $10 but I don't know what age is considered a kid. It's $5 is you want to hand feed an elephant and an individual photo op with Luke is $25. Look at allaboutelephants wensite for more information. We were there about 2 and 1/2 hours.
