No easy manuevering for wheelchairs...even those who walk in shoes need to continuously watch their step! Paths are mainly uneven and narrow. The parking lot is rocks. This was built bit by bit, starting out as a prayer garden at the church; expanding as more people and small groups added to it what they themselves envisioned—not actually planned as a tourist attraction! Its beauty and uniqueness can be appreciated somewhat from just outside the entrance and around the grassy edges, if the weather hasn't made the ground muddy.

It's reasonably pet-friendly. Just keep them on a leash because I suspect the interiors of some of the structures might not tolerate a too-enthusiastic sniffing. :)

As a member of the church there, I can tell you that people are welcome even during services, as the traffic is not disturbing to us, with the garden and garden parking way behind the church itself. Visit, tour, pray, picnic there during daylight hours.

there is no cost, but they do have a donation box.

Leased, bought, borrowed...as long as they're on leashes and you have clean-up bags with you so kiddies walking after you on the crafted narrow paths don't have to step in pooh! Canine visitors may help keep the few area snakes (seldom seen, actually) in their holes.

While the garden was created to give the community a peaceful, serene place to reflect, the original idea came from "The Towne" game that the artist designed and played with his children many years ago. In this game, everyone had a small ceramic figure that they spoke for, and were given goods and coins to trade with. They also had handmade boats on which to travel to other countries. The gardens creator, Old Dog, choose the figure of Ghengas Khan and had the monopoly on silk. (:
