Stopped by this local museum because of its locale mostly. but was really surprised at the amount of local history and way it was set up. Has elevators if needed instead of stairs as it has 2 floors. Glad that I stop worth the stop and small charge

I love these sorts of museums. That it's located in the first (postbellum) county courthouse makes it especially significant. Exhibits are very well done, the staff knowledgeable and chatty, and the shop well stocked with lots of books on local history. A sincere thank-you to the donor who funded this!
(My only quibble is that I wish the museum had a little more on slavery in Bartow County and on the postbellum African-American community, including Jim Crow and desegregation.)

The building which the Bartow County Museum calls home was constructed as the Bartow County Courthouse in 1869 and served in that capacity, 1869-1903. The building's 150th anniversary was in 2019. The celebratory exhibit is still up (1-17-20). The building has served in many capacities -- a grocery for 37 years; a furniture store for 28 years, and more; it set empty for 27 years. The building has been beautifully restored and contains a wonderful county museum. I have posted some photos highlighting this historic building.

I took my 8 year old granddaughter here one day thinking that she might be bored and she loved it! They have exhibits that are easy for kids to understand. They gave her a scavenger hunt sheet and we had a blast looking for and checking off all the items.

This historic building is the perfect place to learn more about the history of Bartow County, Georgia. A lot of artifacts and exhibits about the county, including many period photographs.

You can learn all about Bartow county in this historic small museum. Static displays and many audio displays are in the museum. Takes you through time explaining about what was happening.
Saturday evening was a good time to visit. The lady at the desk was nice and helpfull adding to the experience. There is a nice small gift and book shop there as well.
Elevator equipped so everyone can access the museum.

The Bartow History center is one of the best in Georgia. They have great summer camps for kids of all ages. Wonderful events for adults during the year.

Neat museum on the various pieces of history regarding Bartow County. Small in size, but perfect for a short family activity. Enjoyed learning more about Bartow's history!
