This is one of those small parks on the
Etowah River right before it goes to Lake Alltoona. You can see the remains of the furnace of course but, there are some trails as well.

The park is owned by the Corp of Army Engineers I believe. The dead end of the street ends at Alltoona Dam. There are a number of stairs leading down to the river. A word of caution ; they can increase the flow of water from the dam just upstream at any time.

There are toilets provided by the furnace. Also there is a park with swings and such for small kids, small soccer field, etc.

I’d recommend this for anyone in the area who wants a quick getaway to be in some nature and check out a dam.

This was once a thriving industrial site but now is remembered only with the ruins of an iron furnace. Picnic shelters, restrooms and river recreation.

Stopped to see while in area, was bit of local history. Drive to get to is on a river road, so has good scenic views but just one thing to actually see and could not get close do to area being planted in flowers

Dad gets to pick the hike on Father’s Day and this was a great pick! Beautiful, historic and a good hike! Many different places to hike with many different terrains. Totally worth the trip.

It is a nice place by the river. History, picknicking, hiking trails...all in one. There is even a playground for the little ones. Plenty of parking and clean restrooms.

It's a long road in but worth the drive. We have seen the limestone furnaces in Rockport, ME and this is better preserved with more information. The display on how it worked was very good.
There is a nice picnic area and I think fishing can be done, too.
The only drawback was the lack of signage letting you know you are still on the road to the Furnace. The road is long and we were thinking we had missed it.

Nice place. Not a lot to do, but good for picnics or fishing. The furnace was cool and we got some good pictures there.

We enjoy a lot of the spots all around Lake Allatoona and are thankful for so many Day Use areas. (Both on the Cartersville side and the Woodstock side.) This place is no exception. The dam is neat. The picnic areas and the views with lakes and trees.

This area is suitable for all ages. The road to the base of the dam has been opened back up so you drive all the way back there to take a look. It's beautiful when the spill wells are open.
