The gardens have always been beautiful. Now it costs $10 a person to enter. As a grandmother with three granddaughters I was not about to spend $40 for an afternoon stroll. At least the unhelpful students at the ticket booth lead me to believe it was $10 a person. I find that hard to believe.

Quiet respite! Love, love, love the walking trail. We walked the trail and saw a lot of birds. This garden is a happy place. We can’t wait to see it in the other seasons. We learned at the entry area there are classes and events throughout the year. Next time we will buy a membership.

We were passing through the area and decided to visit this place because it had lots of great reviews and pictures online.
We bought our tickets and went in... only to find that EVERYTHING inside was either dead, dying or closed. Allow me to correct myself, there were five heads of lettuce that were still clinging to life, but that's about it.
This place looked like a wasteland (word that one of the administrators seemed to took offense with, but I'd let my pictures speak for themselves).
It looked more like the location for a Fallout picture session or a Walking Dead episode than a "lush and bountiful garden". You don't have to believe my words... just look at the pictures.
Since there was nothing to do or see inside, we turned around and asked for a refund, only to be told "no refunds whatsoever" which for me is unbelievable given the situation. Still, I came back home and tried again with upper management.
This time, I received the most condescending reply possible. Just to give you a small sample of the way their reply was worded: It seems that "It is unfortunate that you were not pleased with our offerings" and then went ahead with three full paragraphs self congratulating themselves about how magnificent their garden is at other times; which is meaningless to me as I just witnessed dead plants.
Again: Look at the pictures. Would you call that "magnificent"?
Long story short: They ended their reply with "we do not issue refunds"
They really must need the money.
That phrase still circles my thoughts.... "It is unfortunate that you were not pleased with our offerings" I just can't fathom how can they say that with a straight face. Do you think there's somebody out there that wouldn't be upset to be charged $30 to see what I just showed you?
They also told me that they just passed a hard freeze and that is the reason for the current state of the garden... um... so... if you know it looks bad then why do you keep charging for it?
If I had a zoo and all my animals died I wouldn't be charging an admission fee as I have nothing to show.
For all the people that will say "oh, but this place is beautiful in (any other date)" I believe you, but I am not arguing that. I'm just telling you that as of today, the place is HORRIBLE and it is a travesty that not only they charge for an entry fee when there's nothing to see, but being so shameless as to refuse a refund request when they know its current state.
I'll finish this review with the same line I used on my final reply to them:
Hope everything grows back again so you won't charge people for nothing like you did with me.

My wife had flagged the Columbus Botanical Gardens as a possible stop on our overnight visit to Columbus. We didn't make it there on our first day, but we opted to stop by on the Sunday morning before we drove home.
A 'botanical garden' can span a wide spectrum of things, some more interesting than others. Unless you are very plant-centric, there is probably an upper threshold of interest that any botanical garden can generate. I'm not saying that critically; think of it in the context of 'would you rather visit a museum or a garden?'. Depending on your answer, you may be more or less interested in your average botanical garden...
This one is located 5 - 6 miles north of downtown. There appeared to be ample parking, plus an overflow lot that was not in use when we visited. They have some central gardens (sort of zen-lite) and a walking trail through the woods. This intersects with a camellia trail, which was nice. It also intersects with a 'wetlands' trail, which (as the name suggests) appeared mostly soggy.
There is a sort of farmhouse near the parking lot which belonged to the original landowners who donated it to the community.
If you are just looking for a nice 30-minute diversion of walking among plants, this is fine. It was a nice walk. It is also free.
I'm not sure I'd need to return here, but I'm glad we stopped in.

Had some time to spare waiting on my son to finish some training at Ft Benning and was too restless to sit in the hotel. I saw the Garden on my map app and decided to check it out. Can’t say enough about how beautiful the gardens were and how welcoming the staff was. Spent about an hour meandering through the gardens and the walking trail. Very relaxing time in the tranquility of nature. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the path was well taken care of so that it was a very comfortable walk. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

This garden is an oft overlooked gem in Columbus. It is small and tucked in between a residential neighborhood and a shopping mall but the formal garden gets better by the year and the “natural gardens” provide some lovely walks. Best part, it is free but you can always give a donation.

A low key facility, informal and comfortable. There were flowers in bloom, camellias in particular. Plenty of room for the kids to run.

We stopped at the botanical gardens, and found a welcoming bench to enjoy the picnic lunch which we brought. The gardens are well maintained, with varied areas to explore. When we visited in September, the rose blossoms delighted the senses with their beauty and fragrance. One of the staff members who was preparing the vegetable garden for fall planting explained that half of the produce they grow is shared with needy in the community, while the other half is sold to pay for seed and supplies to sustain the vegetable program. Work was actively underway for a new Japanese garden, which we look forward to seeing on a future trip. Our only disappointment was that the restrooms are closed (we assume because of COVID) - plan accordingly.

I have just received a Passionfruit vine (Maypop). Can I plant it now or should I keep it indoors until next spring? If indoors, how do I best keep it?
