I did not feel any discomfort in there. The tunnels are opened up pretty well. There are a couple of low spots. They break up the groups really well so there is not many to a group, which helps.

I think it might be a bit much. An adult could fall, a child more so. Also, a 3-year-old might want to be carried, making it even more dangerous.

Yes, 2 hours should be fine. You go in and purchase your tickets. The tours leave about every 20 minutes and you can do a little gold panning until they call your tour. Seems like it was only a bout 10-15 minutes. Tour is maximum 45 minutes and includes a brief movie.

Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport is the nearest. It can take up to two hours with Atlanta traffic if you come directly from the airport.

The mine isn’t active. When we went we were (that’s a lot of w’s) given pans with the sand in it. I can’t say if the gold is added or natural to the sand. Everyone in our party got something to take as a memento though. The tour of the mine is really neat and informative. Especially if you’ve never seen one.

Our gold panning, gem mining and gift shop are wheelchair accessible. The Underground Gold Mine Tour is NOT wheelchair accessible. The total tour is about 0.5 miles round trip and consists of three flights of stairs (46 stairs) and two inclines. You enter and exit the Mine the same way. I hope this helps.
