Views were great. Many campsites on the water. None were being used. Most definitely primitive camping but you don't have to worry about bringing in water. You can always boil it if you don't trust the rapid moving crystal clear water for drinking. The trail is for people with good footing & good sturdy shoes. Not for wheelchair, walkers, or unsteady individuals. WILL get slippery and questionable if raining. Don't expect stairs, railings or cement/blacktop path. It's a wonderful & enjoyable walk just be aware. LOTS of tree stumps and roots. Approx 6.5 miles round trip. LOVED it!

My husband and I (31 and 25) hiked this and it was about a 5 mile round trip. It’s not a paved trail, lots of roots and rocks. There’s a beautiful view of the creek and some smaller falls pretty much the whole way there. There isn’t much to the actual raven cliff falls. It’s beautiful and tall but it’s very narrow. There is a small spot at the bottom of the waterfall where you can swim if you want, but if there are several people there it’s kinda awkward to get in it with others bc it’s not a big swimming hole. If hiking 5 miles isn’t much to you, then it’s worth it, but if not there are some really beautiful falls along the way and you can turn around at any point. We really enjoyed stopping and walking down to the creek to get a better view of the small falls and climbing the rocks. It took us about 2.5-3 hours with all of our stops bc we were enjoying the beauty!

This is the MUST do hike in the area! My watch showed it to be about 5.75 miles roundtrip. All along the river (crossing the logs at the beginning was pretty easy).

We took a group of 12-13 year old girls on the hike on a beautiful, sunny Georgia day in July. The trail is almost completely shaded due to tree cover and surrounding woods, so it really wasn't too hot, even though it was July. The trail was vigorous, even challenging at times. 2.5 miles of hiking up to the falls felt further due to the terrain. We crossed at least 5-6 log bridges, and hiked alongside the creek for a good portion of the trail. Overall, we really enjoyed this one, and would do it again. Pack plenty of water, and plan to get muddy, as there are several mucky parts of the trail.

My wife and I went on Memorial Day weekend (Sunday) and it was pretty packed. The parking lot, which don’t have a lot of parking in it anyway, was over flowing. We had to park in a mud hole off on the side and do some acrobatics getting out of the car. About a quarter of a mile up the trail you come to a river crossing where I think a bridge used to be (maybe)? But it’s not there so you cross what looks like a beaver dam. I’ll post a pic of the crossing. I’d suspect people fall in alot. After that it was a typical hike up to the falls. There were beautiful views and other smaller falls. There were lots of trees down so we crawled over or under all the trees that were on the trail. It’s 2.5 miles up to the falls, waking beside the creek almost the whole way, and we were able to do the round trip in 3 and a half hours.

This is a moderate out and back hiking trail outside the town of Helen, Georgia. It is approximately 5-6 miles in length. It is well-marked and well-maintained, with the occasional fallen tree to cross over (or under). It ends at an outcropping below and parallel to a cascading mountain stream. It is heavily forested with slight rises and falls in elevation.

The bridge is out so you have to cross the river. Not my ideal surprise in January when I was trying to squeeze a fast hike in before picking the kids up from school. I wish there had been some signage that indicated this before I paid the parking fee. I walked a quarter mile in and then had to turn right back around. I’ll come back in the spring or summer when I don’t mind splashing through rivers.

Only did 4 of the 6 miles roundtrip as it was just blazing humid out. The entire trail is in shade and waterfalls everywhere. Many root areas that require concentrated footing. Worth the trip for sure!

You don't have to go the whole way to enjoy the beautiful river and small falls along this shady trail. If you remove your shoes to ford the shallow creek (about 5-10 minutes in), be careful where you stand after crossing. Looked like some broken glass near one of the logs west of the creek. Hiking poles a good idea due to lots of roots. There was a very manageable flat log to cross about 20 minutes after the creek. The trail is a bit narrow and parking is limited, so go early and enjoy!

This is a great Intermediate hike. It's an out and back with a few waterfalls. I had it a little over 5 miles RT. The is a short scramble at the end to get closer to the falls. It was a fun time, but expect your feet to get wet.

Absolutely! They would love it. Take plenty of water and snacks and take your time. Great memories to be made.

My husband and I are experienced hikers and we were going to bring our 17 month old son on this hike with an Osprey backpack. He is in the carrier the whole time. Do you think that's doable?
撰写日期:2018年3月9日
Don’t think it will be a problem as long as your sons in a carrier. Some parts are narrow and the trail is steep at times.

Is there another campground close to Raven Cliff Falls? ( as a backup in case sites are filled)
How popular? Is it best to get there Friday night or will I have a shot at getting a campsite Sat morn?

We camped at Unicoi State Park about 10 min away. I did not see people camping at Raven Cliff.

There are two state parks in the vicinity a few miles away (they charge, of course.) Vogel, I believe is one and I know Unicoi is not far from there. Of course for the money paid one gets facilities as well.

How does camping at Raven Cliff Falls work? First come first serve? Reservations?
撰写日期:2017年1月6日
When the It's all wilderness camping sites but the sites are large & well cleared out. When the weather is nice, it can be busy. I'm not sure how may sites in total but there are numerous sites not far from the trail that are visible, so there isn't much privacy during the day when hikers are trekking up & down to the falls.
