My husband and I are new to the area and enjoy exploring the many parks we are lucky to have. Our neighbor recommended this park and I am really glad he did. We went on a Sunday, so it was pretty busy. We were lucky enough to find parking in one of the lots, but it took awhile. We packed a picnic and wanted to find a place away from others. We did find a place not far from the river and tucked behind a building so it was perfect. We really enjoy our picnic and then we decided to take a walk and really enjoyed the walking area at the park as well. It was fun to see people kayaking and tubing down the river. We will definitely visit this park again, it was a wonderful day.

From Azalea park, you can pick up the Riverwalk Trail that connects to the Chattahoochee Nature Center. It’s a peaceful spot to enjoy walking, running or biking along the river. I have spotted herons, egrets, hawks and turtles. There is a playground at the park and you can rent canoes or kayaks to paddle down the river.

My wife and I visited Azalea Park on Tuesday for the first time. Located at 203 Azalea Drive this community park is located directly on the Chattahoochee River. We went early and got our walking in before 10am. It was a beautiful sunny day and this was a great spot to have a picnic lunch. We spent the afternoon relaxing, people watching and hanging out with the many geese by the river. Open daily; Family friendly; Plenty of parking in two separate lots;
Park features:
1-Chattahoochee River & Creek Access
2-“Shoot the Hooch” offers canoes, kayaks, and tube rentals for enjoyment on the river with Shuttles available
3-Pavilions with picnic tables, grills, restrooms & water fountains
4-Individual picnic tables with grills by the river
5-Hiking/Walking/Biking Trails by the Chattahoochee River and another paved trail by the highway (Dog friendly but must be on a leash)
6-Kids playground at second entrance (near the western edge of the park)
7-Fishing allowed
8-Atlanta Rowing Club located directly across the street

It was nuts because we'd had so much rain and this area is very flooded (and supposedly some from water let out by Buford Dam area.) So the parking lot was 1/2 flooded. But still enough free parking and open bathrooms. You just had to be creative on where to walk around to see the trail. (One bench by the water was still half under water.) But still pretty even in Feb.

This is a nice area with walking paths, places to put and go down the river, and have a picnic. Worth a visit.

Azalea park is one of several Roswell parks along the Chattahoochee River. It is a delightful place for a picnic, paddle, stroll or bike ride along the river The landscaped grounds have several picnic tables, a covered pavilion, and a spacious paved parking lot. This a great place for a family picnic, bird watching along the river, or tossing a Frisbee. There are usually Canada geese or ducks on the river who welcome a crust of bread. A wide paved boat ramp allows easy launch of canoes, kayaks, rafts or powerboats. You might see long shells from the nearby Atlanta Rowing Club practicing on the calm river, part of the Morgan Falls Reservoir. A paved trail parallels the river for several miles in either direction, good for walking, biking, or rollerblading. Several signs describe historic use of the Chattahoochee, and the site of the Kelpen homestead is nearby. The restrooms have drinking water, flush toilets and are heated in the winter.

Excellent place to paddle the Chattahoochee River. This section begins close to Sandy Springs and leads to Roswell in one direction or Bull Sluice lake going in the other direction. Perfect for a day of river paddling.

Azalea Park has many attractions: a running trial, kayaking and tubing available, hiking and bird watching.
Very close to The Chattahoochee Nature Center, which is an advantage.

Azalea Park offers fishing, picnic areas, canoe and kayak rentals, and trails that take you along the Chattahoochee River. Across the street you can see/visit the remains of the old Kelpen homestead. Since it was a nice day we took a bag lunch and watched the river. If you are traveling on the road it would be a great place to stop just to stretch your legs.
