I took this tour with my wife and kids. I was blown away by Captain Rod’s knowledge of the area. My son, who is not a big history buff, was repeating stories from Captain Rod the rest of the day. If my 9 year old talked about him being interesting, then you know he delivers. Possibly one of the best trolley tours I’ve ever been on.

This was our second time on Rod’s tour. My husband and I were so impressed with the rich detail and history provided by our tour two years ago that we brought our children with us for their spring break and they enjoyed it as well. Captain Rod is incredibly personable and brings history to life with his story telling. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

This trolley ride is good to be able to see the island as a whole. The first stint of the trip was not great because the driver drove so fast and talked so fast you really couldn’t understand him. We stopped for lunch and followed the rest of the tour on the trolley. The second driver was excellent. He explain things, he was slow. You could understand him, this made all the difference in the tour. Again, I would say it’s worth taking just because it gives you an overview of the entire island.

A MUST DO TOUR! A charming, knowledgeable, and funny gentleman gave us a terrific narrative of St. Simon's Island. The history, landmarks, points of interest, his fave restaurants, etc., I wish I had taken notes-it was all so interesting! Highly recommend!

Captain Rod does just 1 tour a day (at 1000am) and not on Sundays. You get on at the pier. He prefers if you book online, you take your chance of it being full of you just show up. Super easy booking process. Online bookings get the first choice of seats. Once on the 90-minute tour, Rod really shines. The amount of information he shares in a fun, rapid-fire, passionate way is truly an enjoyable highlight. He points out history, geography, geology, and restaurants. We found it a great way to get started for our visit to the island. Rod would be an awesome high school teacher! Don't book the wrong tour. Rod is not advertising. He goes by word of mouth, and his tours are full - there is only room for about 20 people. Can't recommend high enough!

A wonderfully entertaining and historic tour of St. Simon’s Island. Rod is extremely knowledgeable and a great storyteller as he shared so much history of the island. We only had a day on the island so we did his tour first. This put everything in context and then we went back to the sites we wanted to see more of. Can’t recommend this tour enough if you want some history.

An amazing tour by a wonderful tour guide! He is so friendly, personable, and full of knowledge about St Simon island. One of the best trolley tours I have ever been! I didn’t realize all the the history surrounding this little island, I highly recommend this tour!

Had an interesting and incite full tour of the island. Rod is extremely knowledgeable about the Golden Isles and its history. He also seemed genuinely interested in those who toured with him.I would highly recommend...

Captain Rod was very entertaining and knowledgeable about St Simons. He was genuinely excited to share as much of the history as you can cram into 90 minutes. At the end of the tour you were wishing there was more time. While boarding, he takes the time to talk to every passenger and learn where they are from and engages you throughout the ride with anecdotes about places in common you've visited. He is a captivating story teller who is passionate about the island. The tour is a must do to get the lay of the land and planning you're visit of this beautiful island. Allow an extra hour to check out some of the shops at pier village and the park there.

I'm sure the captain wouldn't mind. At the beginning of our tour there was a gentleman with a dog outside and the captain knew the man and his dog. He keeps treats on the trolley for the dog. As long as your pup is well behaved I don't think there would be a problem.
