Drove 3 hours to get to the Springs. Only then to be told the last entry to the waterfall is 12pm. It’s for safety reasons they say. Whilst I happy to accept the guidance, I wish someone had posted this or it was in the information in the website

12月の訪れました。ポーリング温泉内にあるキャノピーウォークのゲートから片道約90分かかりました。道は思いの他歩き易く、私はビーチサンダルで登りました。森の中は比較的涼しく、滝の正面は少し肌寒いくらいでしたが、水は必携です。途中で大きなダンゴムシを4匹見つけたました。時間に余裕のある方にお勧めです。

포링 온천에서는 온천 뿐만 아니라 수영도 할 수 있고 작은 트레킹 코스도 있어서 안쪽으로 들어가다보면 캐노피 워크나 버터플라이 가든, 그리고 이렇게 작은 폭포들을 구경할 수도 있습니다.

It’s a long way (approx 2 hours) to get to the waterfall but the jungle makes it enjoyable. There are plenty of beautiful trees, plants and butterflies. Insect lovers may observe various insect species..insect haters like me can push their limits.. get ready for leeches so trousers and long sleeves are fully recommended. We met only three groups of people on our way there and back and enjoyed the waterfalls in private as there wasn’t anybody else.

i'm not sure if it's the tallest waterfall in sabah as some people seem to claim, but it's surely one of the tallest accessible ones, if not the tallest among the relatively easily accessible. so if you are begging waterfalls, this should be in your top-10 list.
the hike starts inside the poring hot-spring park. you'll pass the bamboo forest, the hot-spring, the entrance to the butterfly garden and the entrance to the canopy walk. around 400m passed the entrance to the canopy walk, you'll arrive at the smaller but still beautiful Kepungit waterfall. so, if you are begging waterfalls, congrats, this hike is a buy-1-get-1-free.
right after Kepungit, the gradient turns up, and serves as an indication of the challenges ahead for hikers of different fitness level. how hard is the hike? it's challenging if you exercise once or twice a week. if you seldom exercise, it'll be a real test of will. if you are a regular hiker (like once a week or two), then it's a piece of cake. the trek is wide and well maintained. hiking sticks will help esp on the descent to ease the stress on your knees. it's a tropical rain forest so do expect some leeches. there are plenty of info on how to avoid leeches, so i won't repeat them here. just be reassured that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
there're few water sources along the trek but unless you are confident your stomach is sufficiently localised, i would recommend you carry enough clean water with you - at least 1 litre, better 2, or bring a portable water filter.
beside leeches, you'll likely hear some beautiful bird songs, and monkey calls. there are plenty of beautiful wildflowers along the trek, and biggish creepy-crawlies if you like that kind of stuffs. hiring a knowledgable guide will help learn more about all the sights and sounds, and point out things that you might not even be aware are there, but a guide is not required for the hike itself. markings along the trail i minimal but you can't really get lost on it, unless you are a person who can't be trusted to find your way home from the corner shop near your home.
the waterfall doesn't have a deep pool to swim in. the water is, not surprising, quite cold. you might even find it too chilly to sit near the waterfall for a short picnic. since it'll be a 4 - 6 hrs hike depending on your fitness level, you'll find to bring some food to replenish your energy along the way. be advised to stop only at sunny spots and stay away from leaves and grass on the sides of the trail to avoid the leeches. nothing can be done about those that drop from the leaves above though...
there are pools (cold water & hot water ones) and shower facilities near the park entrance so you can freshen up before the long ride back to kk.

Yes the 3.5 KLM walk through beautiful tropical jungle is well worth it .You walk through bamboo jungle and unusual succulent jungle.Fitness level must be above average,take plenty of water.Signage was very poor no indication of how far you had to go.Guaranteed a refreshing dip on the way back in the small creek.Also if you dip your feet in spa fish will tickle your toes.Take salt as there is the occasional leech.Lots of butterfly’s also a feature.Enjoy!

Na een stevige wandeling bereik je de prachtige waterval. Wat mij betreft is de wandeling zeker ook het doel. Soms pittig, maar ook hele mooie omgeving.

Worth the walk along an easy path to see the waterfall. Very quiet when I visited, nice butterflies.

It's a very long hike about 3.5km which takes about 2 hours with short rests in between. The path is clear but you need to make sure you brought enough water with you as you will sweat a lot for most of it. After you reached the waterfall, you will be treated with a very different environment with much cooler atmosphere and chilling waters to let your weary feet rest.
