Wonderful relaxing experience
2020年10月
We stayed over the 15-17 of October. And we had a great time. The staff was extremely accommodating. They were extremely helpful when I had some confusion on the pools and were patient even when I came back multiple times asking different questions. We can't wait to come again

Rude Staff
2020年10月
I was shocked how little information the staff provides to its guest. It seems to me that all Downata Hot Springs is interested in is getting your money. We came to the hot pool at 8am when they opened, however we must have come in the wrong entry door. We didn't know were to go so we just followed some other people into a gate that takes you to the hot pool. We were greeted right away by a lady that came out of the building scolding us and brow beating me and my family. She said we need to pay. We told her we were looking for were the office was so we could pay and that we have never been here before. She was clearly irritated by us and right away I felt like she didn't want us there. I payed the fee to swim in both the rec pool and the hot pool from 8am to 10am. After I paid, the lady told us to go out the front door and go down the side walk which then took us to the same gate that we were just scalded for using. Come to find out she could have let us go in through the building which takes you through the locker room. My family and I got into the hot pool for 20 min and then I took 3 of us to the rec pool and two of us stayed in the hot pool. Once again the lady came out as soon as we got into the Rec pool and she says, Did only 3 of you get back in? I said there are 2 of us in the hot pool.... (I didn't understand why she was asking because I just paid to swim and she is the one that helped us) She said ok don't forget you have to get out at 10am and pay again if you want to swim. I was very confused by her saying this. I asked her what time is it? She said its about 8:45am. I had not even been in the pool for 40 min and she was telling me to pay again. That's when I realized how many cameras were hanging everywhere. Obviously we were being watched like a hawk. There were several seniors in the the rec pool doing some lap swimming and exercises on there own. We found a lane and my son and I began swimming laps. The lady came out again and told us that we need to leave if we are not swimming. I told her that I will just leave, because obviously we are swimming and yet she is coming to reprimand. I told her that I am being very respectful and I am following all the rules. She then said that I can stay if I am swimming (We were not being disruptive, we were not splashing or being loud)? The whole experience was very upsetting. There is a fee for every single thing. You pay to camp, you pay to play horseshoes $5 plus a deposit???? you pay to use the showers, swimming, movie rental, and get this, if you loose your goggles they will sell them in the office. Instead of just letting people use them. Another fee : You have to pay $25 fee if you don't pick up your dogs droppings for each occurrence (which you should definitely do without being told) but there are deer dropping all over the camp ground. You can not walk anywhere without running into deer droppings. They make the fees for swimming so confusing. You pay a separate fee for each pool the rec pool and the hot pool however nobody explains anything to you. For example suggestions on what would save you money or how most people choose to do it. They only answer your questions with yes or no answers. You don't know if the slide are open or if the rec pool is hot or cold. Then if you go to there website you can see more information. Come to find out if you pre pay to do the pumpkin walk you can get 20% off your lodging however when we made the reservation they don't tell you that. They tell you about the pumpkin walk but not about the pre pay. If you look on the website at there map of the campground it actually says on there. We ask that you do not bring your own firewood and right above that it says FIREWOOD for Sale.
We decided to leave a day early so we told them at the office that we were going to check out and they said we would have to pay a $10 fee which is fine because that is fair. We paid $30 for the camping spot and they were going to refund us $20 but instead they charged us another $10 and we still have not seen a credit.
This was supposed to be a fun family experience but it was ruined by the negative rude Staff and lack of communication. Clearly they are not hoping you have fun and make memories, they only care about themselves and making money. You will see signs everywhere telling you what not to do. Nobody is happy to see you. The feeling I get is pay to play but don't actually have fun. We actually joked about it all weekend that, you might get yelled at or you might have to pay.

Better than going to Lava hot springs
2020年7月 • 夫妻情侣
Husband and I bought our first RV a few weeks ago and decided to try Downata Hot Springs as our trial run for our new trailer. We were fortunate enough to be able to get a last minute reservation for the 4th of July weekend. When we arrived on Friday, we were pleasantly surprised how well maintained the main grounds were kept. They have a campsite for just about everyone - places for RV's, lots of space of tents, even has 6 yurts, some teepees for rent, a few cabins and 6 Conestoga wagons to take your glamming experience to whole new level. Some sites have fire pits included, several large group areas for camping, a playground for the kiddos, a horseshoe pit, sand volleyball area, and a really nice fire pit with hanging swings to rent.

Our RV spot was a little tight to back into. Unfortunately it was necessary to unhitch our truck from the trailer and had to parallel park in front of trailer (this was the case for each RV spot). We were able to get a RV spot with full RV hookups but they do have RV spots without hook ups.
There are a few camp hosts on site and they are very visible through out the day

The hot soaking pools are are very cleans and very well maintained. The main swimming pool is also very large and has two large waterslides and a small water slide for the small kiddos. Additionally there are two extremely large waterslides adjacent to the main pool for those who want a little more water adventure.

The food at the snack bar is greats. Really liked the French fries they were very hot and crispy - many times French fries are either soggy or limp but the fries here are absolutely fantastic.

For extra convenience, the main pool office offers many kinds of rentals - from pool toys and pool noodles to towels to swimsuit to dvd's and blue ray to rent each night. Also rent horseshoes and various balls.

According to their website they also offer various hiking trails, ATV trails and horse trails. Downata Hot Springs also offers space to keep your horses if you choose to bring them.

Finally if you do a little research and even ask you can get an amazing breakfast on Saturday's and Sunday mornings (reservations must be made at least the one day prior with the main pool office).

My husband will definitely be back - we are looking into bringing extended members of our family for our next trip - there is definitely something for everyone here.

Excellent

The wagons were so nice! The heat and the air conditioning was just right. The beds, floors and space was clean, the grass around was green and lush. There were campfire 🔥 chairs, fire pits (with firewood, fire starter and matches included!), bbq grill and picnic tables, and all the stuff needed for S’MORES 😊 for our use (bag of marshmallows, 6 bars of chocolate, box of grahams and roasting sticks) The camp host even asked us if we needed extras the second night. It was a wonderful weekend!

Steak and soak
2020年2月 • 好友
This is a special evening for couples, friends and families. It starts with a delicious steak dinner with all the trimmings then you go to their relaxing soak pool with perfect water temperature, changing color underwater lights and relaxing music. The employees make you feel like you are the most important people in the world. I would go there again and again

Teenager Luke warm Springs hell.
2020年1月 • 夫妻情侣
My bad experience with this place literally started when I set foot out of my car. The parking area outside the cabins is a mud hole. I had new white shoes on. Put some gravel down! The other reviews about the rude staff were spot on. The couple of really nice staff members (at the restaurant) don’t make up for the really rude ones (everywhere else). Cabin is overpriced and doesn’t come with a swim pass. It was fairly clean but the carpet is well beyond it’s replacement time and kind of gross. Shower curtain was sour. We did the steak and soak for $40 but the steak is average at best and had no flavor. Then the pass doesn’t get you into the big pool. That’s extra. You can’t take a drink in either, only a sealed bottle of water. I think they want youth groups as business because it was all teenagers and they were obnoxious. They Crowded up the small hot pool all night, wrestling and splashing. No one came and stopped them, which is surprising with the staggering/creepy amount of cameras they have. I watched teenage staff rudely scold other people though. Don’t worry about literally getting scolded here. I like much hotter water than this place puts out. Bottom line: Not for couples. Not for elderly. You will have a bad time. Just overall a weird, almost churchy vibe here.

Amazing Massage!!!!
2019年8月
One the vintage side. I stayed at the RV park, which was well worn. But it also has lots of mature trees, a variety of lodging options and family areas. The staff was very accommodating and did all they could to provide for our needs. BUT! The best part was an amazing massage! Not well promoted at the site, in fact the room is a little hard to find (tiny sign outside), and reservations are taken during a limited time in the day. The masseuse gave me a deep tissue that focused some long standing pains and I walked away feeling twenty years younger! She has a background in therapy massage, reflexology, oils, everything you'd want for a massage. Assessed my needs and soothed areas I'd long assumed were just part of getting old. I'm hoping to return on a regular basis, which says a lot since it's a two and a half hour drive!

Popular Family Reunion Spot
2019年7月 • 家庭
I have been to 3 family reunions at this spot in the past 30 years - it is not my choice but I was not in charge this year :-/ While Downata has grown up and greatly improved over the years, my opinion reflects those of the other three reviews: the water was w a y too hot in the pools, the splashpad, the hot tub, the tubes, and even the restrooms! Every kind of accommodation available, from Conestoga wagons to yurts, pull-throughs to tent spots. Campers were shoehorned in every available spot so if you're looking for privacy, go somewhere else! Prices are high and even the showers cost 50 cents for 6 minutes. The "full hookups" had no sewer, and some 'hookups' spots had water but no electricity or vice versa. I had a dry camping spot on the grass by a tree, a picnic table and a firepit that cost $47 for two nights. Restrooms, though frequently cleaned and restocked, weren't nearly as plentiful as would have been convenient, I have to get up 2-3 times a night and the closest restroom was a 4-minute walk. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Downata had a very safe environment, and pets on a leash are welcome. This really is a fabulous place for a family reunion as long as family members aren't heat-haters or loners like most of my family is . . .

Camping Weekend
2019年7月 • 家庭
I called and reserved a camp spot the day before. When we got to our spot #28, it was out in the middle of a field with no shade. You could tell that it was a newer area as the trees where about 5’ tall. The site was fine for the night but the next morning we were dying of heat and packed up early and headed out. The older camping area has a lot of shaded areas and would have been a lot better.
The pool was great in the evening. It was a lot warmer then I thought it would have been. It was about 95 degrees outside and the pool was about the same temp. It was too hot until the pool was covered in shade. Our kids had fun on the slides, which there is one for about every age group. Overall I don’t think we would camp here again. We would do the pool again in the evening. After 6:30 pm each night the price drops to around $6.00.

First Time Visit: - Now ... about the WATER
2019年6月 • 夫妻情侣
Visited Downata HS Resort for the first time in June 2019.
Very nice facility -- ideal for a family reunion or an overnighter.

My wife and I are both 'young' seniors. We love visiting Idaho hot springs. We are always seeking romantic places to soak and sometime to stay and relax.
The quality of the water at Downata is excellent to outstanding; no smell, crystal clear, and a pleasant 'soft water feel'. This all sounds marvelous.
We did discover some disappointments that others really ought to consider as they plan their trips to this resort.
1) There are separate "soaking" pools and separate "soaking" pricing and wristbands for the soaking area.
2) On the day we were there, there was not one soul in, or near, either of the two dedicated soaking pools. My explanation for this is simple: The water temperature was w-a-y too hot to relax and enjoy our experience there. Had a little cool water been introduced with the overheated water in order to make the water a perfect temperature for soaking on a warm spring day, the two soaking pools would have been perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable soak. Instead, two beautiful, physically isolated pools sat completely empty while the nearby pool was overcrowded and boisterous. Oh, how I wish the managers would hourly adjust the water temperature for prime soaking conditions. Certainly more customers would make their way to this otherwise fine resort.
3) The 'general public' pool. Another regret here -- The public pool is divided in half with one half of the pool being the 6 to 7 feet-‘deep end’ of the public area. With no diving board, I could discern no reason for such a deep pool - especially while the other half of the pool is packed with adult and youthful soakers. Consequently, half the pool remained empty and unused -- while the shallow half was so stuffed with people as to feel crowded. Such a simple design change could have made a huge difference in the enjoyment for all.
