Fun and Funky Place! Can’t wait to go back.
We stopped in just before closing time, yet still enjoyed our short visit. We did not have time to taste all the wines on offer, but loved their Mourvèdre. Our server, Gin gave us a quick tour of the winery and allowed us time to relax and finish our wine. We look forward to returning to Split Rail again soon.

Give Garden City Beer and Wind Tasting a try!!

This is a smaller venue, but good wine! They have two different options for tasting, choose either a flight or tasting menu. The flight cost a little more, I think $8 but gives you more options and choices than the taster menu at $5. We did buy two bottles from this excursion- one was their on tap special, s white "hoppy" wine, the other a Mourvèdre.

There is a Brew Pub right next door, call u er and have fun tasting at several locations within walking distance, bring some light snacks though.

Love this place!
This is a great place to hang out and enjoy some of the best wine being made in Idaho. The winemaker is tons of fun and the cool urban interior vibe made us feel like we were hanging out in "wine country". We will definitely go back again and again.

Want to come back again and again
My boyfriend Paul and I were in town from SLC for the SLAYER concert at Revolution Center on ST. Patrick's Day, the next day we bounced around to things all over the city and then on the way out we stopped at District 44 after I did some research prior to coming. I walked in to Bella Brewert not remembering that even being an option but they were closed, but door was unlocked...super dissapointed as there were 2 beers I saw on board as I walked in. After recovering from that heartache we walked into Split Rail to see a wall of wine barrels with pretty lights on them. To summarize, did the wine tasting of 4-5 different types including the wine in a can, Strange Folk Wines, "Le Commondante". A red, Idaho made, 14%. One can equals to glasses. Tasting notes per the can show as: dried plum, crushed violets, spice, mountaintops, feral bears?? Freedom....hehehe...enjoy this smooth canned red and want to try the white on my next visit. The hostess was personable, conversational and super informative for us out of toners on what to do when we come back(the list is long) as this city is amazing...first time for bough of us and we fell in love. I want to do the wine growler fill which is a Grolsh type bottle filled with wine from tap...love it...met the wine maker who was working on a decorative etsy ish project of lights on a rustic wood plank...beautiful and I wanted it...all in all, wonderful experience...will be back to taste more, buy more...thank you for your hospitality!

PS...want to try try the other wineries and Bella Brewery

Staff at Split Rail is a always friendly and attentive. We have visited a couple tomes and the second was during a wine club event. Even under pressure everyone was patient and helpful. Cool location in an old repair shop has a great vibe and is even better when they open the bay doors. There are a few other wineries to check out right behind them or just stay and enjoy the crew and wine at Split!

A fun place to try some new wines and beers. Children are welcome. No food is available, but you can bring your own.

Boise One Stop - 5 Wineries
2014年11月 • 好友
Traveling in the Boise area and looking for a diversion? The District 44 Wineries may have just the experience you are looking for. District 44 Wineries are located in Garden City which is just a short drive from the downtown Boise convention area. These edgy urban wineries run by 5 young up and coming winemakers, two female in the growing group of women vintners, offer a great sampling of locally produced wines. In addition to pushing the creative boundaries in wine making with encapsulated yeast use to make Rizza, one tasting room, Split Rail is also beer friendly and offers local micro-brews for the non-wine drinker. However, don't confuse the growler with being beer friendly, as this one is for wine! The wineries include Cinder, Syringa, Split Rail Telaya, and Coiled. Hours vary. Visitors can consult Face Book (District 44 Wineries) for information or contact individual tasting rooms. The Boise Weekly gives a pretty solid review: http://www.boiseweekly.com/boise/garden-citys-new-wine-district/Content?oid=3069041

Split Rail is just one of five wineries that make up the District 44 wine area. Located in Garden City, which is literally next door to the state's largest city, Boise, these innovative winemakers and their tasty wines make this a must-stop in your travels to southwest Idaho. Jed Glavin, of Split Rail is no different. Among the unique features of this still-small winery are the wine growlers available under the Strange Folks label and the local micro brews on tap. Jed himself is beer-friendly, explaining, "I actually like a beer after a hard day's work." After visiting with Jed, be sure to check out Coiled which is located across the back alley. While there winemaker Leslie Preston will be happy to show and talk about Rizza, her new sparkling wine.
