The trolley tour around the little heritage town was very informative. You learn about the characters that shaped and rebuilt this one of a kind town, the people who outsmarted the US government to protect its very existence. But the real highlight is the silver mine tour. It is very interactive and Lee, the retired miner who presented our tour, did an amazing job of showing us exactly what it was like to drill and blast your way through solid rock to find the richest silver deposits in the world.

This was our second tour with the Sierra Silver Mine Tour. We were a group of seven adults and everyone really enjoyed the tour. Our guide, Lenny, was a former mine worker and he had a lot of fun stories to share. (At times we had a little trouble understanding him, but it didn't affect our overall enjoyment.) We would love to do the tour again if we're back in the area.

This affordable tour offers so much insight and information and is worth every penny!! I took a group of senior citizen and they loved the history and knowledge they learned. The tour includes a complete city of Wallace guided and narrated trolley tour. The mine tour guides are experienced retired miners and actually run the equipment/machinery on the tour to give you an idea of exactly how the miners worked and the tools they used. The guide offers to take your photo with your cell/camera at the beginning of the tour as well. Don’t miss this fun experience when in Wallace. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll even get a souvenir!

Starts with a trolley ride with a history narrative to the mine. At the mine a very informative retired miner escorts through the mine. Actual running pieces of equipment to demonstrate how they work and what they sound like. Excellent guide mixing facts with humor. Trolley ride with tour around town on the way back.

Wow. We had no experience with mines before this tour and we learned so much. The guides are all former miners and full of interesting stories. No better way to learn than from someone who lived that life. Tour is about an hour, both fun and informative.

Very interesting for most all ages! Our Grandsons 10 and 12vreally enjoyed it. However very noisy because they demonstrate many of the mining equipments used. Advise ear plugs for anyone sensitive to loud noises. This is a walking tour for the most part with uneven surfaces and dim lighting. The guides are very courteous and worked to accommodate any one with needs.

Absolutely loved this tour! Our kids ages 11-17 also really enjoyed it. Lenny our tour guide was just wonderful. He involved our kids and even showed our son how to use one of the machines. It was a highlight of our trip! We highly recommend!

We took this tour on a whim and it was one of the best things we did on our trip. It was such a unique experience to go into the mine and see actual equipment being used. Lenny our mine guide had great information and stories to teach us! I would love to sit for hours and hear more stories from such a neat guy! His authenticity made the whole experience.

The trolley driver was completely unprofessional. We took our dogs on the tour which they said we could do. He was demeaning, unprofessional and rude. He said, “I’d really like to see you put two dogs on your lap”. It really put a damper on our trip as a family that we spent a lot of money on. I will not ever go back and I would advise anyone that has a dog not to go. They are not dog friendly. This was a horrible experience for our family

I'd say a 1/8 of a mile several steps up to the entrance and a gradual slope in the mine. Rock floor most of the time. if she is spry and sure footed yes...if not no.
There is a two mile trolley ride to and back, open air.

Is this tour suitable for young children? Thinking of doing this as a stop on a family road trip. We have a 7 yr old (she’d love it) and a 3 yr old who I’m not so sure about....

Yes this would be great for children. They do demonstrate how the equipment is used so it does get very loud for a brief amount of time. They also turn out the lights just for a fraction of a second to show how dark it is. You might want to bring ear protection for the loudness and just prepare them for a brief time of darkness. If they're ok with this, everything else will be fine and it will be fun for them too.
