This course is incredibly well maintained round the year. Even in the driest, hottest summer, it is hard to find a sizable bare spot in the course. Unlike the near totally flat terrain of the surrounding area, this course has adequate ups and downs to make each hole challenging. This municipal course offers a reasonable green fee. The only room for further improvement is the attitude of the employees who clearly need to give visitors at least a hearty greeting. In short, this course is one of the go-to places for golf lovers.

I highly recommend playing this course. The courses condition was excellent. Multiple tee boxes make the course playable for golfers of all skill levels. Plently of water and tress in which to loose golf balls. Staff was very friendly. Good valu for the green fee. Would definitely play again .when visiting Carbondale.

This golf course is in great proximity to the town in comparison to the other golf courses in the area. The course however is a little pricey in my opinion. The holes are average to say the least but there isn't anything fancy or over the top that justifies the price being so much higher than surrounding courses.

Great golf course in Southern Illinois. Public,well maintained with a variety of challenges for novice and scratch golfers. Restaurant on site serves great lunches. Burgers and the fish sandwiches are excellent. Good lodging and dining choices in nearby Carbondale. Close to Southern IL Wine Trail and Shawnee National Forests.

Best condition golf course south of I-70. and great fun to play!! No other course in Southern Illinois compares to it. The little jewel for Carbondale, owned and operated by the Carbondale Park District

Played Hickory Ridge for the first time in years and was impressed with how much this course has matured over the years--it is a course that requires some pre-swing thinking as every hole is a dogleg. Unfortunately the greens had been "punched" the day before our visit so that impacted much of the short game play but, even with that, this was a fun, fun course to go a round on.

Been there a couple times this year and every time I was there whoever was working in the pro house just acted like they hated being there much and hates that you were there too. I do however enjoy the course but will not be going back due to the multiple experiences I had with customer service.

Zoysia grass makes for a lush, beautifully landscaped course. Nestled in a wooded area with ample hills and water features, Hickory Ridge course is equally challenging and a true representation of Southern Illinois nature. Fairways and greens are in great shape. Large driving range!

The course has a little bit for everyone, long/short holes, elevation changes etc. A nice range and clubhouse. Favorite public course in Southern Illinois.

Very nice setting for a golf course. Set back in the woods with running streams, water, fall leaves, etc. Greens are in great shape and challeging course from all tee boxes. Thanks to Mike Curtis and the staff out there for a great day of golf.
