A groups of friends and I found ourselves stranded in the city after our river bot tour was cancelled as result of terrible weather. Embracing spontaneity we popped into Laugh Out Loud knowing that the art of improvisation is just as famous as the crime heads of old in this city in hopes of experiences some raw Chicago culture. It did not disappoint! Despite being a bar, any shows before the hour of 9p are family-friendly. Tickets run $20 and are your hard earned money well spent! Side splitting laughter at this all female cast (that evening) and great hang out spot when the show wraps.

We were looking for something fun and different for our last evening in Chicago, found this theater and booked our tickets for the 7:30 show. We were happy to see that the Theater is in an area that seemed very safe and nice. The ticket guy was friendly. They offer beer (very cheap!) and mixed drinks as well, bartender was very cute and nice. The theater itself is very simple, they obviously operate on a tight budget. The seats were basic but ok, creative bottle holders to make it easy to have a drink at your seat. The 4 ladies in the show we saw were quick witted, creative and entertaining. I was a little surprised at the way a couple of the gals dressed, not inappropriate, just seemed too casual clothes/hair/makeup. I think it would enhance their show and look nicer if they had some standards for that. They got the audience involved indirectly from the beginning so that made it really fun. Overall, a really fun and entertaining show, something different and unique. We would certainly go back and highly recommend supporting this theater!

Our family had a WONDERFUL time at the early (family) show. By the end of the show, most of us were laughing hysterically and one was actually crying. This improv show is NOT stand-up monologue comedy, it's more like stories and games performed by 4 comedians (rotating from a troop of about 30) based on suggestions from the audience. The best comparison I can give is to the popular TV show "Whose Line is it Anyway," except the early show is family friendly (think 8+ years old, might be over the head of younger kids) and runs about 90 minutes. When you walk in, it's fairly obvious they operate on a shoe string budget, but don't let that dissuade you. These people aren't doing it to get rich, they're doing it because they clearly love what they do, and you can't help but love them too. Because it's improv, no two shows are alike, and obviously some routines come off better than others, but overall a good time was had by all. I look forward to our next Chicago trip so we can do it again!
