After running around Chicago for a few days and tiring myself out I just wanted to listen to some jazz with a small crowd and a few drinks. I stayed at Hotel Blake and their bell hop, "Showtime" which was very helpful during our stay, PERSONALLY walked my husband and I to this quint jazz spot a few blocks from our hotel. It was everything I wanted it to be! This diamond in the rough had great drinks, good food, a small personal atmosphere, and an EXTRAORDINARY live band. It was a perfect date night for my husband and I!

I have been here too many times to remember. Great drinks and a nice place to just relax and list to great music. Each experience brought something new. I love to hear the original music but my favorite nights are the covers of classic songs. Definitely a change of pace from the average Friday night of a 29 year old.

Walked in, stumbled out!
We found this place wondering around, bar was slow on a thursday night, no live music that night, had good convo with the bar keep.
He said come back saturday, we did and there was only a rookie bartender but the live jazz made up for it.
They are closing after the labour day weekend, go during jazz fest!

My husband and I visited Chicago from Northern California in mid-May. The ambience was very nice, the bartender and drinks were great, and the Band was "Awesome"!!! I wish I could remember their name...I remember the guitarists' nickname was "Blade" as in Wesley Snipes lookalike...he played the "heck" out of that guitar. My next visit to Chicago will surely include a night out at Close Up 2 Jazz

really nice time there, the music was great. it was a really small place but the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. If you like smooth Jazz and R&B Soul then it's the place for you.

Let me tell you guys, this place might be small but the atmosphere is very relaxing and intimate. My best friend and I came here after dinner at Tavernita another great place. If you want to enjoy great live music this is the place to be. The band we saw were called Lake Effect and they did their thang. All though there was a 10 cover charge it was worth it and the drinks were on point to. If you want to unwind and be around a great crowd of people Close Up 2 Jazz is where you should be. I will be visiting again.

This place was amazing. Very small. Private area for a lot of friends. Very close to Hotel Blake. Our doorman Showtime walked us to the club. We were greeted and seated. The band was spectacular.

This place is so cool! The staff is very nice! And OMG....if you are a martini fan, you must go by on Wednesday's...$5 top of the line martinis!! Great place and fabulous bands on Thurs-Sat!! Check it out!!

We love smooth jazz and had a groupon for this place so went one night after dinner. The live music didn't start til around 9pm and we got there early, so we sat at the bar and had some drinks. Bartender was great and drinks were great. We didn't think they were too pricey, average for a bar. Drinks had plenty of alcohol, weren't watered down. Intimate place with a lot of nice people. Had a nice gentlemen buy us a round of drinks while we were there too. We stayed for about half of the live music set, and what we heard was great. If you enjoy smooth jazz music and want a great date night, would recommend this place!

We were given the recommendation to go here by the doorman at our hotel. While the music was nice, I felt a little cramped and the drinks - while good - were somewhat pricey at $12 for a martini. That may be normal for a big city but I didn't feel like the quality of the drink justified the price.
