Took in the museum as a huge Jordan fan I got to see a lot of items. It's disappointing to know this is the only place to really see tributes to the legend. Thankfully harry bought some of the merch. Highly recommend to eat the food and get free admittance.

Sports museum was well worth the trip. Small enough that you don’t need much time there, but still very cool.
Can you jump like MJ? Do you have Scottie’s reach? Can you hit a moving WR target before getting sacked? Find out at the museum!
Tip: go in thru mall to seventh floor - recommend the Michigan Ave entrance. The “express” elevators take forever and just dump you into the mall!!!

Chicago Sports Museum opened to public in 2014. It is located in Water Tower Place on Level 7, next to Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch Restaurant, and if you dine in this restaurant -- your visit to the museum is free of charge.
This museum impressed me as smartly designed, modern and highly interactive. I visited all the sections ("Zones") of the museum -- and also took a bunch of photos, to illustrate the review.
The museum exhibits are easily accessed, the comments and descriptions on the plaques are very clear and very informative. If you are a fan of a particular type of sports and especially of Chicago teams -- hundreds of photos and other mementos will bring back to you the memories of exciting times at sports events, will make you think of your favorite players, of Harry Caray's unforgettable singing "Take me out to the ball game ! ..." If you are just an idle visitor -- you might get interested in a certain type of sports and learn many sports facts about the famous players. Parents with children, grown ups -- anybody of any age really, might engage in an interactive displays and video games, that are offered in the zones. For table tennis lovers -- here you are: you can play it in the museum!
The zones of the museum are very spacious, well lighted, and the last one offers fantastic views of the area around Water Tower Place, Lake Shore Park, Museum of Contemporary Arts, and you can even see Navy Pier far out to the east!
Chicago Sports Museum is excellent , and I enjoyed my visit very much, Thank You!

I stopped in here with the kids during our recent visit. Its pretty easy to find - top floor of the Water Tower Mall. For myself and two kids, it was about $25. But if you eat at Harry Caray's next door, you get in free. I wish I knew that first - we paid for the museum THEN went to lunch. Oh well. Learn from my mistake!
Tickets are purchased at the restaurant hostess stand (should have been my first clue). The museum is pretty small. You can probably go through it in less than an hour. There are a few exhibits with old uniforms and other stuff from the Chicago sports teams. What my kids really loved were the VR games: they had them for hitting homers, shooting hoops, and throwing footballs. Definitely worth the visit if you are there and love sports. But if you are doing lunch anyway, go to Harry Caray's and save yourself some cash!

The admission fee of $10 per person over 12 is steep for what you get. I think it is free if you eat at the Haray Caray restaurant which kind of says something I think. It is hardly a museum but has a few interesting interactive things to do generally related to chicago sports. Its a good way to kill 30 min to an hr between some better activities. Has some good photo ops for the kids as well and some video game like virtual games. Save it for a rainy day on a chicago visit if kids are a little bored while mom shops.

2 part review: WATCH OUT FOR FALSE ADVERTISING THAT IS PLASTERED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING ON MICHIGAN AVENUE. Admission is only free if you dine there. From the street one can only see the "Free Admission" advertisement, but if you back up 2 blocks away, you can see the inclusion that it reads:
FREE ADMISSION
For Restaurant Guests.
And the manager, Matt, was completely unreasonable when I tried to explain that my son wanted to go in and the sign says "FREE ADMISSION." If was only after he rudely told me for diners only, that I went down to the street level and 2 blacks away so I could see the caveat.

Well.....the issue with this place continues, however it extends to the Joanna, the Vice President of the Harry Caray Restaurant Group. I spoke with her on August 4 and explained the situation. I also told her that I wrote a negative review and requested a refund of the $10 entrance fee. She also asked for a screen shot of my review which I texted to her and she confirmed receiving it. I requested the refund out of principle, as the advertisement for "free admission" is misleading. Joanna agreed to send me a check for the $10 IF I removed the negative google review. I agreed to do so- actually, I would have amended my review to put a positive spin on it by explaining that in the end, the right thing was done and an attention customer service was displayed. HOWEVER, I have never received the refund and have texted and left countless voicemails for Joanna, both on her cell phone and her office line. She is literally dodging my calls and will not call me back. This is beyond unprofessional and I am floored by how this entire ordeal has been handled. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised to be treated like this by a company that misleads their customers. Is the $10 refund itself going to make a big difference? No, not the financial aspect of it. But it's all about doing the right thing, being professional, holding up her end of a deal. I agreed to remove the negative review after receiving the refund, but Joanna has reneged on the agreement. "Reneg" is a perfect word to describe what has happened....Reneging refers to a situation where one party goes back on a promise or breaks an agreement or contract that they had previously accepted. Every day, individuals and businesses enter into verbal or written contracts that they are expected to abide by the terms of. This is what I expect of Joanna, especially in her role as the Vice President of the company. It is so disappointing when someone doesn't hold up their end of the deal. Not to mention downright unprofessional. But, if someone is going to mislead the public on "Free admission," why am I surprised that there are other aspects of dishonesty in place?

As a Chicago sports fan, this was heaven. So many memories of important and championship games. Newspaper headlines, video clips, baseball cards, hockey pucks, etc. are all part of this.
Some of the interactive exhibits were not working, I didn't care. Even my non-Chicagoan spouse enjoyed it.

We enjoyed this even more than expected — a great way to entertain the kids for 30-plus minutes during a walk up and down the Magnificent Mile. There were a lot of interactive things they could do. And it’s free if you eat at the restaurant, which was also a very good solid sports bar with good food options.

My wife and I love the Chicago History Museum and, as members and neighbors, we make frequent visits to see new exhibits. But its contribution to Chicago sports pales in comparison to the Chicago Sports Museum. Located at 835 North Michigan Avenue, on the seventh level of Water Tower Place, next to Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch Restaurant and Sports Bar, it offers 23,000 square feet of space to hi-tech interactive skill challenges, sports memorabilia and game-used artifacts. Explore the legends and lore of Chicago sports. Opened in 2014 by Harry Caray's Restaurant Group, it features a collection of 2016 World Series memorabilia, including David Ross' Game 7 catcher's gear, Kris Bryant's cleats and Addison Russell's Game 6 grand slam ball. Engage in a home run-hitting contest with Frank Thomas, learn to throw a curve ball with Steve Stone, examine the CT scan of Sammy Sosa's corked bat and study the constitution of a baseball to see how it has evolved over the last 100 years. Elsewhere, score goals like Patrick Kane, shoot free throws and compare your wingspan with Scottie Pippen, test your vertical leap against Michael Jordan, sit in the driver's seat of an Indy race race at Chicago Speedway, try on a replica of William "Refrigerator" Perry's Super Bowl ring, the largest ever crafted, and test your grip strength to Kyle Long. The museum is open from noon to 7 Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 on Sunday.

Hi I have made a reservation for the restaurant for our first night in Chicago, at 7.00pm, and I just realised that the museum closes at 8.30pm. My sports mad son will love the museum so my question is does the free entry pass to the museum have to be used on the same day at the dining reservation, or could we use it the next day? Thanks Jodi

Hi Jodi,
I just wanted to make sure your reservation is for Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch, adjacent to the Chicago Sports Museum. That is the only Harry Caray's location where you can dine at and get complimentary admission to the Museum.
Typically, the passes have to be used on the same day as your reservation but we can make an exception since your son is such a huge fan.

Do not remember. Just know must easier overall if having a meal or drink at Harry Caray's, which produced free admission.
If the museum closes at 6 and we get there at 5:45 does that mean we have to be done with our visit by 6 or will they allow us more time?

Even if they let you in, you won’t enjoy the museum at its full. It’s small indeed but I suggest you to go earlier than 15 min before closing.

If the hall of legends event space is reserved on a given day, does that mean the museum is still open to the public? If so, is it super crowded those days to the point in which it is probably best to go another day?

The Hall of Legends comprises about half of the Museum and the other areas would still be open. It tends to be busiest on weekends and holidays.
