Saks Fifth Avenue, a high-end department store at 700 N Michigan Ave, is always a nice attraction for Chicagoans and visitors, especially during holidays, and in the last twelve months I happened to visit this store several times.
The stylishly designed store is very spacious inside, and all the merchandise is laid out conveniently, thus providing a comfortable access for shoppers. The ground floor is all about accessories and cosmetics. The top world brands of merchandise presented in the store include Chanel, Dior, Prada, Versace, Balenciaga, Tory Burch, Christian Louboutin, CELINE, Burberry, La Prairie, La Mer, Bottega Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo, Chloe, The Row, and many other famous designer brands.
There are seasonal discounts available, and this can be a very nice place to buy a trendy, high quality gift; some items are gift packages, especially in the cosmetics section of the store. In my experience, the staff was very knowledgeable, courteous and friendly, thus contributing to a pleasant, festive ambiance in the store, all ready for shoppers during winter holidays.

I am a UK customer and have enquired numerous times via chat, email and even a phone call regarding a discrepancy on the website - something I was interested in had 2 different sizes at 2 different prices but with the same measurements…after several weeks of asking still none the wiser and website still stating the same, I’m sure this is probably legally not right seeing as it’s false advertisement but they don’t seem bothered. Annoyingly this is the only place that still sells the item I wanted otherwise I would’ve given up a long time ago…and I think now I just can’t be bothered anymore so they have lost my sale, not that they probably care!

If I could give Saks negative stars, I would and sadly it is all based on the horrible experience I had with one miserable woman who works in customer service yet has no concept what customer service is.
Less than 2 weeks ago, I received a $300 handbag I ordered on line. The first time I used it, the front decorative zipper pulled away from the seam. On closer observation, it is obvious that the seam that was suppose to stitch the zipper to the bag, missed and the zipper wasn't even sewn to the handbag. I called customer service and they told me that I could return the defective handbag in the store along with the return request they emailed me. I walked to the store with my defective 9-day old bag I used once, proof of purchase and the return request. Yet the lady who was mistakenly called a customer service representative wouldn't take the return. There was no one else to talk to. Who knows where the store manager was. They don't even have a customer service department listed on their store directory. I asked another employee where they customer service department was and was told the lady at the pop-up desk (who I already spoke to) was the only customer service representative available.
Wow. Saks used to be known for quality service and merchandise. Today, one can get better quality products and service at a discount store. I will not be back.

Ok, there’s every designer you could wish for at this Saks. The store is rather large. Though, all designers are well marked as to which floor they’re located. The salesperson are wonderful. The variety of cosmetic alone can keep you there for hours.

Great shopping at the Chicago Saks fifth Avenue. Lots of luxury brands. Defintely upmarket, but there are brands in the affordable ranges. Still, it's lovely to look at the very high-end stuff for inspiration, and to know what real quality looks like, and perhaps add it to a Christmas list. Check out some of the unique brand departments that are not found everywhere, including the perfumes and estate jewelry.
Friendly,professional staff who know what they are doing. They are there to help, not push.
All around, a high-quality shopping experience.

Disclaimer: in a perfect world, they would get rid of the pounding music in the cafe/bar on the top floor. I might have had lunch there on a recent visit, but the music drove me away. I'd rather they go for a classy atmosphere, rather than the "cool hip kid" atmosphere. I've had lunch there before, and don;t remember this noise level - the food is good, but not enough to overcome the noise. There are other places to have lunch on Michigan Avenue.

I live in Beijing and I am usually in the USA twice a year. I nearly always complete a large amount of shopping to add to my wardrobe. The men’s department at Saks Chicago is one of the best in the city. The selection is great however what really stands out are the gentleman who work with you. Richard has worked with me 2-3 times and this time Fabricio assisted me. Both a super gentleman - helpful - making appropriate suggestions without being pushy and assisting with my own selections. Richard in particular is a true gentleman with impeccable manners and he presents himself in a way that completely matches this luxury brand. On my next trip I will actually seek him out to assist me.
These are the reasons brick and mortar stores should never go away and I do not feel they will ever die our. At the luxury end it’s all about service. Service is dead in many businesses but not in the men’s department at Saks Fitch Avenue Chicago.
