I live in the Chicago suburbs but visit Galesburg regularly. I do a lot of genealogy research and I’ve found more books and microfiche at the Galesburg Public Library to help me find my family tree than most in Chicago! Not just Central Illinois but all 50 states (some better than others.) A knowledgeable, polite staff as well!

This library has it all. Not only the traditional books, but a wealth of movies, DVDs,,playaways,and information. They have a great play area for kids equipped with toys and computers. Lots of activities are offered for kids and adults. Anyone is welcome to come and read the magazines or newspapers as well as checking out a book. A great place to be in inclement weather and you can even enjoy a drink while reading.

This library really takes the quiet policy seriously. I have never encountered a distracting or loud situation. The wonderful staff is always ready to help you with whatever it is you may need. This library has a nice sitting area with magazines and newspaper near by. A small hot drink machine is located toward the back for those chilly days and there is a pop machine that accepts some app payment. The library offers many events for children, teens and adults as well as offering learning programs.

GPL is small but well-stocked. The bathrooms are clean. There is plenty of furniture for reading at the library, along with a handful of vending machines. The staff are very polite. Overall an excellent little library.
