We took mother-in-law to Blickling on her 85th birthday. Thanks to the flamboyant Brett we had a marvellous day. He sorted her out with a powered mobility scooter which was a first time experience for her. He took it up to our car in the car park, made sure she was comfortable and went through everything with her so that she was happy. We ventured into the gardens, then the walled garden and eventually round the garden perimeter. She loved the freedom and we had to jog to keep up! After light refreshments we reluctantly gave the scooter back. What a wonderful time we had and a beautiful place to visit. Thank you so much for your help, patience and enthusiasm Brett!

This huge house and estate was worth visiting even on a rainy day. For the garden we did the tour. Very interesting information about the house but especially about the garden and the 400 year old huge yews. In the (vegetable) production garden an attempt is made to reintroduce centuries old species. Our own ecological compost is also made and water is supplied naturally. It is part of the National Trust and with the explorer pass free to visit.

Beautiful Jacobean National Trust house, fairly large house with lovely 55 acre gardens, walled garden, parterre, orangery plus over 4000 acres woods & fields for longer walks. I enjoyed a lovely day out here with my wife, does have an on site cafe. North East Norfolk area, not far from north of Norwich, if visiting as a tourist for a weekend, Holkham Hall is not too far west if staying at local hotels.

What a lovely property. We did a walk across the estate before the main house and formal gardens opened (they were setting up for Alysbury show on the estate).
Nice cafe with oroowr coffee/hot chocolate -made fresh with a steamer (unlike when we visited near by Holkhm Hall which was luke warm from a machine and very expensive). Good prices and cakes are homemade by volunteers (we got talking to a volunteer on our way in). Don't forget to also visit the RAF museum and printing museum is (run by a great friendly group.of volunteers). Oh, and the biggest second hand bookshop I've ever seen. Thoroughly enjoyable day. Will definitely recommend and visit again if I'm ever in North Norfolk.

This is large impressive house and attached gardens. IT is well worth a visit. Make sure you allow enough time to visit at a leisurely pace.

visited Blickling on a rainy Saturday in late August and i have to be honest, it was a lovely day out, even in the rain!
the Jacobean house was beautiful to look at from the outside and it had stunning decor inside. we went to the Stables Café and it was nice, very busy but understandable as everyone was sheltering from the rain. there were a nice array of cakes and sweet treats such as Victoria Sponge. the car park was pretty big, enough spaces for everyone. it’s free for members you just have to go and scan your card at the machine.
overall, i’d definitely return to Blickling on a much less rainy day and when i’m in Norfolk again!

I co-authored a History paper on this Hall some years ago and love to visit.
One of my bug bares is the voulenteers who seem to have an issue with you discussing the history and other visitors showing an interest in what you're saying rather than asking them. I dont really understand this, it can only be a sense of self importance and a dillusion of ownership of the property by some of the staff.
I find this at several national trust places. Must be part of their training.
Very interesting Hall though, well worth a visit.

Whilst on holiday we spent a day at tickling. It was a lovely day, sun shining, and we explored the house, grounds, and church. We loved it! The volunteers, when going around, are polite and knowledgeable. The grounds were beautiful.
We enjoyed lunch at The Bucks a pub across the road...perfect day! Thank you.

Such a beautiful estate and there was even a historical live play being performed in one of the gardens.
The bookshop is the largest among the national trust sites too…. We picked up 13 books for £25!

It’s great that you were here for the play performed by our Living History volunteer team; they perform historical plays about Blickling every Wednesday during the summer. And we are very proud of our bookshop, which has many thousands of books and has just won an award for outstanding fundraising!

This was a wor as we saw the building from the car on the way to the car park. Gorgeous brick buildings with superb chimneys an instant wor on sight. Superb grounds with beutiful gardens and a lake walk. Exellent printing museum. Well stocked and organised book store.
The house itself had lots of hidden features like bulls in the plasterwork. Superb room of copper plate pitcures on the wall papers . so much detail.
The ground and woods were worth a walk as well. Plenty here for everybody.

Yes, but it’s free for National Trust members ( you need to scan your membership card at the ticket machine, I think )

Be very careful should you visit that you don’t stand on it and crush it as it is an historical building and it would be a terrible shame for it to be destroyed. . . tread carefully!

Hi.
As it is a National Trust property, it would be best to check their site. There are different prices for different areas and people. The house was lovely, but the weather was poor so I didn't see much of the grounds.

You can walk dogs in the park but not in the house or gardens. The park is great for dogs but I think they have to be kept on leads due to livestock. There are lots of long walks around the park and lake. There is a dog friendly cafe near the car park, although I think you have to sit in the rear room if you have a dog... lots of dogs and their walkers enjoy Blickling estate.

As you can see from other replies there is a lot of uncertainty about breakfasts at Blickling. I think this is because it is seasonal and the opening times change. I would suggest giving them a call 01263 738030 - hope this helps.
