Because of the preserve's access off IL-21, there is not only traffic noise but visible traffic as well.
The nature trail loop around the lake is only one mile. There are both grass and gravel paths. It wouldn't take more than 20-25 minutes to complete the loop.
The fishing pier is steps from the parking lot and has two benches. It is handicap-accessible.
Leashed dogs are welcome.

Super pretty and a nice short loop around Lake Carina. There are lots of plants and animals but the only downside is the noisy road and sometimes you can also hear the power lines buzzing.

I live in the area and had driven by this park many times but never stopped. My boyfriend and I were looking for some place new to walk, so we came here. There is a nice trail around the lake, but it's only about a mile, so it didn't take too long. I probably would not come back here - just not a long enough trail to make it worthwhile.

Our sons often go here fishing - they enjoy as well that it's not loaded with people like many places! Good fishing too:)!
