George Hendrik Breitner (1857 – 1923) is one of the most important Dutch artists of the late 19th century. In recent decades, his work has been highlighted mainly from his urban subjects and as a photographer. It earned him nicknames such as ‘the painter of Amsterdam’ and ‘Dutch impressionist’ in a beautiful large space. Great in Laren center full of Breitner flags

If you love art between the 1880s and 1920s, the Singer is a good museum to visit. The changing exhibitions, but also the building itself and the sculpture garden are worth a visit. You can have lunch in the cozy 'living room' that is full of paintings, or on the terrace.
On one of the walls of each room there is information in large letters in Dutch and English about the theme in that room. There's always a couch.
We always go on Sundays. It is quite busy, but because the rooms are spacious, there is always a time to 'be alone' with a painting.
Next to the museum is a free parking space.

Not bookable- not reachable at agreed time
Tried to book a timeslot today. Through the site that did not work (from eight o'clock). Calls could be made from ten years old. We couldn't do that until 10:15. Of the so-called 21 free places, there was still one (1) left within our possibilities. It sucks....and not a very good advertisement for the organization!

Medium size museum with a nice collection of art. At the time we visited there was an exhibition of Levi van Veluw, go and see to judge for yourself. Some of the displays you can enter and are so realistic that you almost feel as if you are in the 3rd dimension. The museum has a good restaurant, parking is nearby and agree it is a bit busy. The museum has a beautiful garden, when the weather is good a must to visit.

Nice exhibition by Breitner. Spacious rooms. Paintings really come into their own. Museum with large museum shop and restaurant. Beautiful courtyard garden.

The ongoing Breitner exhibition is perfectly organized by the museum. The artworks are hung generously and the introductory texts per room very beautifully displayed on the walls. The catering comes with a smile. Here I come back.

Levy Veluw was more than fascinating, I had never seen anything so special before. Exhibited separately. Of course Breitner was great too, that's really where the attention goes. But Levy was slightly different. Highly recommended

After various tips, we went to take a look at the Singer Museum in Laren today. The Breitner exhibition was there. It was quite busy. We didn't understand it... it really didn't interest us and we were outside again within 45 minutes. Fortunately, we have a museum annual pass, otherwise we would have felt cheated. But yes, art is a matter of taste. We are probably art barbarians, we really didn't see the beautiful. The restaurant in the old house was attractive, but far too busy.

Breitner exhibition in Singer Laren. Luckily we found a parking spot in the parking lot. Nice exhibition. Nice use of color. Surprising: a landscape and a still life. Many women. This is also questioned - and rightly so - in the explanation of the nudes.

Beautiful museum with always fascinating exhibitions and good explanations via audio tour that you can listen to on your phone. If you have noise canceling earplugs, be sure to bring them with you because it is a museum where there is always a lot of noise from people talking, children, walking, etc. Especially due to the number of visitors.
If you live nearby, go early so there is still room in the parking lot. The maximum parking duration has already been reduced to 4 hours, but the parking lot is often still full around 11.30 am/12 noon. Please reserve a time slot in advance; otherwise you won't be able to get into larger exhibitions.
But as mentioned, a beautiful museum with good exhibition space inside (feels spacious and you can distance yourself sufficiently from the art) and also a small but beautiful sculpture garden. If you go early, there is usually room in the catering industry. Catering (unfortunately, as with most museums these days) is not cheap. Count on approximately six euros for a pastry.

Yes you can, it is stated on IAmsterdam site, but not mentioned on the website of the museum. However the museum just confirmed to me by mail admittance is free with a valid IAmsterdam card.
