The arboretum is open, but all buildings, the children's garden, and the maze is closed. There was a long line of cars waiting to get in last Wednesday morning.

I would recommend going on a monday or tuesday. These seem to be the least busy days. The morning during the fall will be a bit more wet than normal hours. For this reason, I think you will have beautiful lighting/weather during the afternoon (3-6pm)

Yes, as far as I know. You can't take the food in the building, but you can go on the grounds to enjoy!

For an accurate answer contact mortons arboretum via their website or call. You will probably have to pay per person for entering for the photos. You can take beautiful photos at the chicago botanical garden in Glencoe. They charge for parking but it does not matter how many are on the car. No other admission fees.
