The Morton Arboretum
Saw the awesome pictures online and had to come by. We were disappointed to know most of the sculptures/art were removed. Sad. Was really interested in seeing the huge wooden woman with the open chest.
We did enjoy the current sculptures/art that was available in 2024.
Very crowded place. Not enough parking. They have an overflow parking but the area is just too tight. We are from Michigan so we have something similar to this place called "Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park". Both places provide beautiful sculptures/art. Both are unique in their own way.
Highly Recommended

First time here for this event. We really enjoyed the experience. The food trucks provided good food. The band, The Prissillas, provided awesome entertainment. We’ll be back next year for their 13th annual show.

This is a very large botanical garden with many miles of trails and paths to explore, along with a great children's garden and a really fun hedge maze. We also had a delicious, healthy and reasonably priced lunch at their Cafe. Highly recommended!

I know a palm tree when I see one. But would you recognize a European buckhorn or a green ash or a black cherry or a boxelder or an American elm? Those are the most popular trees in Chicago -- and all of them are on display at Morton Arboretum in west suburban Lisle. The first time I visited Morton Arboretum I was a sophomore in high school in 1956. As a biology class assignment, I had to gather leaves from different species of trees. A classmate and I thought the easiest way to score an A was to gather the leaves at Morton Arboretum. Ever since, I have made annual visits to communicate with nature and navigate the 16 miles of hiking trails that meander through one of the largest restored prairies in the Chicago area. Located at 4100 Lincoln Avenue in Lisle, Morton Arboretum is a public garden and outdoor museum with a library, herbarium and program in tree research. The grounds cover 1,700 acres and include cataloged collections of trees and shrubs. The living collections include more than 4,100 different plant species and more than 200,000 cataloged plants. Open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Wednesday, Morton Arboretum is a public garden and outdoor museum with a restaurant, library, herbarium and program in tree research. It was founded in 1922 by Joy Morton, founder of Morton Salt. There are so many things to see but perhaps the most interesting of all is the oldest tree on the grounds, the Millennium Landmark Tree, a white oak that is more than 330 years old.

Why Haven't I Ever Been Here?
I always thought it was "just trees" and had no idea about the miles of hiking trails, benches to sit upon while birding, ease of parking, and lovely visitors center. Buying tickets online was very easy and I really liked that you could drive and park in lots scattered throughout and then hike in more secluded areas. The trails are well maintained (I especially liked the trails covered in wood chips as they were easy on my knees) although we did find ourselves on trails that did not appear on our paper maps. We didn't eat on-site, but the options looked appealing. We will definitely come back and recommend this lovely facility.

The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois, is the best place I know to learn, discover and enjoy nature, whether you negotiate the 1,700 acres by driving, hiking, biking or picnicking. Located at 4100 Lincoln Avenue on Route 53 in Chicago's western suburb, this public garden, outdoor museum and Children's garden contains 4,100 types of trees, on e of the largest restored tallgrass prairies in the Chicago area and more than 200,000 living plants. Founded in 1922 by Joy Morton, founder of Morton Salt, the grounds are open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Start at the 36,000-square-foot Visitor Center, which includes wood representing the Arboretum's collections. The Arboretum's stated mission is to collect and study trees, shrubs and other plants from around the world, to display them across naturally beautiful landscapes for people to study and enjoy and to learn how to grow them in ways that enhance the environment. Did you know that the oldest tree in the Chicago area is located at the Morton Arboretum, the Millennium Landmark Tree, a white oak that is said to be more than 330 years old? And don't miss the Arboretum's most recent exhibit, the latest of five large-scale sculpture exhibitions, Of The Earth. Unveiled last May, located a short walk from the parking lot, it features five exclusive new works by Polish American artist Olga Ziemska.

I attended a bridal shower here at the Morton Arboretum. It was super easy to enter through the gate. And then went to the bridal shower. After the shower was Finished, we were able to walk around the arboretum.
it is a gorgeous arboretum terrific for all ages loss of paths for strollers and wheelchairs, walkers, and hikers! there's lots and lots to do here! They have tons of terrific ideas! Be sure to not miss out on the Maze! So much fun! It's great to be outside and enjoying the beautiful arboretum! It's very clean, and very safe.

Morton Arboretum is always a pleasure and has something to offer all times of the year. On this trip, I loved seeing the "Of the Earth" exhibit. It's worth the trip. I also love their gift shop. The only thing that was negative this visit was an extremely rude gate guard/ ticker taker. The staff is typically lovely, so his uncalled for nastiness came as a shock, and it took me a while to recover my mood (only after making a complaint).

I drove for 2 hours to specifically see the huge sculptures, but they are no longer there. With all you see online, I thought they were permanent, but they aren’t. If you like trees, it’s a nice place, but it costs $17 per person to enter the gate. Not even many flowers when I went. Disappointing but a good place to take a walk, I guess.

Hello ,
Is Morton Arboretum currently open? Or is it closed due to coronavirus.
Thanks in advance!

The arboretum is open, but all buildings, the children's garden, and the maze is closed. There was a long line of cars waiting to get in last Wednesday morning.

Hi, I want to take some cool (non commercial of course, it's just me and my little guy and an iphone haha) pics in the fall with my little guy. I just think it would be really nice to get some photos of us under the trees when they're full of color. Is there a day that's a little less crowded that you could recommend? And a good time for the fall colors? We've never been and I keep checking the site for "fall colors" but I see nothing about the crowds, except Wednesdays are the busiest.

I would recommend going on a monday or tuesday. These seem to be the least busy days. The morning during the fall will be a bit more wet than normal hours. For this reason, I think you will have beautiful lighting/weather during the afternoon (3-6pm)

For an accurate answer contact mortons arboretum via their website or call.
You will probably have to pay per person for entering for the photos. You can take beautiful photos at the chicago botanical garden in Glencoe. They charge for parking but it does not matter how many are on the car. No other admission fees.
