Passing thru town at sunset and wanted best viewing options, so I Googled it. Lo and behold this park came up. We chased the sunset to get there, but finally made it at the end of its spectacular show. It was gorgeous!! Lots of deer seen on the way out, but just looked at them and respected their home. Drive slowly thru this place. There are a lot of animals in the woods. WHAT DID WE DO BEFORE CELL PHONES? We're 60+ and are loving technology. ❤️

We hiked the Rocky Bluff Trail in the Wildlife Refuge, and really enjoyed it. Only steps from the parking lot is a waterfall and then you can continue past there and hike the loop trail. I can't remember the distance, but I think it was less than 2 miles round trip. Since it had been raining a few nites, the waterfall was flowing pretty good. There were also lots of wildflowers in bloom along the trail. Nice stop!

We only stopped for an hour or so. There is a small fee but our NPS pass covered it. We saw two deer (a buck and a doe). There are large lakes where we saw white pelicans,ducks,cranes and several other waterfowl. There are a pair of eagles nests . It is probably the nicest wildlife refuge we have visited

A great place to visit, nature is abundant and your almost guaranteed to see wildlife, whether it's waterfowl jumping from the lakes, cranes, ducks, geese, or an occasional eagle that lives in the area and maybe deer grazing near the road. A minimum fee is charged, unless you have a Golden Senior Vehicle Pass. Lodging is readily available in nearby Marion and many restaurants can be found in Marion as well! Also park features a drive through section, in the event of rain.

If you’re into wildlife viewing, fishing, or maybe some casual waking, be sure to visit the Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge area in Williamson County. September and October are the best times to see deer in the corn and bean fields that are located throughout the refuge.
Cranes, Ducks, Geese, and birds of all types can be seen year round. Feeling froggy, get your bike out and go for a ride around or even take a jog if you’re real energetic.

Just outside of Marion, this NATIONAL wildlife refuge is a wonderful place to spend the afternoon observing all sorts of birds (we even saw an American bald eagle!!), rowing you kayak, picnicking or just relaxing. Great fishing in the large lake! Don't pass up the visitor center where you can pay a $2 daily fee (or $5 per week) for a self guided auto tour. NOTE: If you have one of the various National Park admission passes you will not have to pay this charge!

Nice lake and woods. No big rocks or waterfalls like some of the other parks nearby. Good for family camping and boating.

Really nice place, beautiful lake, lots of accommodations for boats to launch. We were looking for the public beach around the lake but never found it.
