The upgraded movie screens, sound systems and seats make this my favorite movie theater. It is located in the uptown area of Park Ridge near some very good restaurants and shopping.

A true gem! As a moviegoer who has visited the Pickwick many times, as a young child and now as a parent with my own young adult and teenage children, I’m grateful this landmark theatre has been both preserved and appropriately modernized to adapt to the technology of contemporary filmmaking (sound experience, etc). From the Art Deco marquee, ticket box, and lobby, you proceed from buttered popcorn and Junior Mints to the main theatre and experience the size and quality of a space in which movies used to been experienced, and to me that really enhances the whole event of going out to the show. Our family saw the latest Star Wars movie at Christmas time in the big theatre, which felt like the right size for such a movie—action, sci-fi and of course the nostalgic component of the opening crawl traveling out to the starry distance. The smaller theaters in back allow for a great selection of movies to be featured during the same general timeframe, so if you don’t like what’s playing in one theatre you can go to another movie steps away. As expected, the quality of the experience is more intimate in the smaller theaters, which can also be fitting; for example, seeing Little Women in the smaller theatre was fantastic, too. Prices are reasonable, more so than at big box theaters! Also, though parking is easy on the street or in close-by lots, the Pickwick is pedestrian friendly; it’s located in a downtown setting next to restaurants, coffee shops, the public library, and public transport/Metra in view of the theatre. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and it’s offerings now go beyond current movies to musical performances AND vintage films from the Oscar vaults. In celebration of the 2018 Illinois Bicentennial, the Pickwick Theater was selected as one of the Illinois 200 Great Places by the American Institute of Architects Illinois component (AIA Illinois). This is by far one of the best theaters I’ve ever visited. Came to see Its a Wonderful Life with my whole family and to buy snacks for the whole gang was very affordable. The seats were super comfortable and the staff was friendly and attentive... definitely coming back anything I’m in town!

The Pickwick Theatre is simply the best theatre around. Great popcorn, comfortable seats, kind employees, and reasonable prices! Definitely the best theatre in Illinois for sure!!

Each time I watch a movie at the Pickwick Theater, it is a great experience! I enjoy looking at the architecture. I think about all the people who have enjoyed entertainment at this theater since it opened in 1928. Since 1976, it has been on the National Registry of Historic Places. This theater is easy to find as it has a tower which is about 100 feet tall as well as a large marquee. Even though I sat in the second to the last row, I saw and heard everything without any problem. The chair was comfortable. The employees were friendly. The evening that I was there, there were about 600 other people from our parish. Looking forward to returning!

I always get to movies in the main theater early because I just love looking at the architecture. The side theaters are also very nice.

We came to the Pickwick Theater with my granddaughter and her scout troop, and several other local girl scout troops. In fact, the theater was almost full with Girl Scouts. The girls especially enjoyed the experience, including the movie. I was amazed at how many of the girls recognized the fact that the Pickwick Theater - built in the art deco-style - has been around for many years, as many guessed that it was from the 1920's - actually 1928. A fun place to see a great movie.

Recently a group of friends joined me for an afternoon at the Pickwick Theater to see Downton Abbey. The theater was one of the smaller ones buy still very comfortable, sight lines were fine, seats were more than comfortable and the movie was wonderful. Parking was more than adequate and nearby. Snacks were good and attendants were fine. The senior discount was appreciated too. Looking forward to going back for another pleasant outing.

We enjoy going to the PICKWICK to see first run movies and to enjoy the newly renovated theaters. It is our first choice when Going out to the movies.
