Grounds are sad. Needs several improvements. It’s no wonder scooters aren’t offered because the paths are awful. They do offer wheelchairs but it will be very difficult for the “pusher” or the individual ascending the inclines. Animals were looking very tired. It was an 80 degree day. Atmosphere drab for both animals and guests. Too bad, has potential but really needs a total overhaul and major upgrades. If your going there with thoughts of Louisville or Cincinnati like zoos, you will be very disappointed.

I've been to this zoo 4 times. It has 4 sections; combined it took us about 90 minutes. All the animals are up close. The entire zoo has a balance of sun and shade. Quite a few animals for a small zoo. Very stroller friendly; ramps instead of stairs. The 3 sections are:
1.) "the original section" which is a building that has monkeys, foxes and an outside area with a barn with goats and donkeys and a conservation center
2.) an Asian section which has a handful of exhibits with animals like tigers and takins, and a small building with snakes and bats
3.) an African section which takes up almost half the area with big enclosures for rhinos, zebras, and the like
4.) an Australian walkabout

Zoo is very clean, well-maintained - and can do as much or as little as you like. And.. there's a children's museum within walking distance as well!

Small but entertaining. Apparently April is not the time to visit. The restaurant was closed. Some exhibits were closed. For its size, It has a nice variety of animals.

It's also near a large outdoor park and Children Museum.

Peoria Zoo, established in 1955 and developed on about 15 acres of land in the area of Glen Oak Park, is a very attractive site. The zoo has several hundred animals and species from all over the world, the territory of the zoo is fun to explore, it is very well planned, designed and divided into sections, according to the continents of our planet. The parts Asian Trail and Africa! are quite stunning, the animals live in very spacious enclosures, spend a lot of time in the fresh air, and look very healthy. Siberian Tiger, African Lion, Giraffes, Zebras and White Rhino are absolutely a must to visit and to enjoy! All the parts of the zoo are well connected by wide paths and neat boardwalks, that makes it easy to navigate through the whole territory. There are playgrounds for kids and rest areas, as well.

The zoo provides the vast information about the continents, flora and fauna in a very appealing way -- on colorful information plaques, that are very helpful to understand and learn about our Planet Earth and its animal life.

I visited the zoo last year, in October, and was very impressed, how the staff -- besides being very friendly and courteous -- observed all the necessary sanitation regulations, and the territory of the zoo was well-marked for social distancing and reminded visitors to wear masks, since some animals could be sensitive to the virus. Some pavilions were closed to public, as well as the restaurant and the gift shop.

Parking at the Zoo is very easy -- it's a spacious onsite lot near the main entrance. At the time of my visit tickets were available online, over the phone and in person at the zoo ticket office.

Hopefully, things will get better, for all of us and for Peoria Zoo, its staff and all the wonderful animals, so that we can fully enjoy visiting this interesting and inviting site and have a great time! Thank you.

Not worth the price. Very few animals. I like birds but I can see many of these at my house. Map shows a restaurant but it was not open.

We stopped here on our spring break trip as a place to stretch our legs. It is a small zoo and unfortunately due to COVID-19 some of the buildings we would liked to have seen were closed. Overall it was a nice road trip break.

So great! Very clean - quiet while we were there. Some exhibits shut down due to Covid, but over all worth it! :)

This is a smaller zoo than Chicago but it was really nice. The Rhino looks to be in great shape and was running around. The giraffe pen was awesome. And the lion looked to be in peak shape. It’s not big and doesn’t take that long but I loved it.

The grounds are very nice for walking around. For the most part it's easy to see the animals - except the tiger if there really is one there.
