The amount of memorabilia located at this site, and how well everything was taken care of. I really enjoyed it and would definitely make this a pit spot on anyone traveling through the area.

Great displays of various wars, dioramas, uniform displays,flags, history lessons, so much history here. Grounds have numerous military vehicles on display. Was a great find for us.

The museum takes you through the history of the military with very knowledgeable people to help you. Very interesting experience. Plus, on the same grounds are shelters for animals of all kinds. Great for the kids.

Such a great way to spend a few hours. There are many things to see such as a helicopter and an airplane! The kids will enjoy it. Take a few minutes to speak to some of Veterans that live there. They have great stories just waiting to be heard!
Be sure to stop in at the huge park full of deer!
There is lots of walking involved if you want to see certain parts of the park. It is paved and you can see everything from your vehicle also.

The war museum on the grounds of the Soldier's and Sailor's Home was an interesting and impressive visit. Many excellent displays from all wars in which the United States was involved. My only suggestion is that there should be some information about Audie Murphy. Enjoyed it!

We have visited other War Memorials, both in the US and Europe. However, this one is pretty amazing. It is housed on the property of the Illinois Veterans home. The volunteer on duty when we were there was Dale, and in addition to being a Vietnam veteran himself, he was very helpful in pointing out special displays within the museum. It is a very small place, but has memorabilia from the earliest of American wars, beginning with the encounters with Native Americans, right up to the current battles in the MiddleEast. Much of the material appears to have been donated by individuals and some of the photographs are historical. Don't be misled by the size, you could be there all day if you have the time.

Not a big (or even medium size) museum in the traditional sense. It’s a collection of war and military stuff housed on the grounds of the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy. You might really n not some of the home’s residents while on the grounds, and hear some fascinating stories of their service to our country. It’s definitely worth a visit.

This is not a large war museums but it was very well put together in that it wasn't just a collection of stuff. Our tour guide was a Vietnam veteran and was very knowledgeable about everything we asked about.

This is not one of the largest war museums but it was the best in that it wasn't just a collection of stuff but a thoughtful journey with personal perspectives for each of the wars dating back to the Indian Wars. Could easily have spent hours there. Our tour guide was a Vietnam veteran and my husband, also being a veteran from that war, appreciated sharing experiences with him.

Aside from the museum, which has been reviewed by many others, there is so much more! This is a great place for a stroll. Kids can get up close with deer, separated only by a chain link fence. Deer will eat from your hand. Another enclosure has a buffalo on display. The garden dedicates a section to each war, with a small bronze statue (very touching) in the Viet Nam section. On property is a military museum as well as lots of retired military equipment, including a helicopter, tank, cannon, MASH vehicle. etc.
