Stopped by this memorial while passing through the Silvis area. There ics a really nice monument in the middle of this small corner area. Some interesting history and respectful tribute to soldiers who were from the local area. A nicely designed and built, and the both the monument and surrounding area/structures are very well maintained.
I wouldn't recommend making a special trip to visit this location (unless you have family or friends associated with the monument), but it is worth stopping for 20 minutes if you are in the area.

Very random but pretty neat memorial for the local soldiers. The stairs that go up the hill to what I believe used to be an opening to (something?) are really random. But reading the stories about the men who served from this street was interesting. I wouldn't go too far out of my way to visit if you haven't, but if you're in the area spend 15 min and check it out.

I grew up in Silvis when Hero Street was under consideration. I watched through the years as it grew. I wish all people who have the chance can and will go through and look at and respect what the men who lived and fought the war on Hero Street and pay their respects.

Lovely setting on a quite street in Silvis, IL This memorial was placed on this street as many of the men who fought in one of the mililtary services gave it their ALL. Many of them were related whether it be sons/daughters and fathers, cousins, brothers and sisters. What an awesome memorial to all of them.

An inspiring monument to eight Mexican American soldiers from one short street in Silvis who gave the last full measure of their devotion during WWII and the Korean War.
I am frequently in the neighborhood and did not think of stopping to pay my respects until reading a local history book "Hero Street, U.S.A.: The Story of Little Mexico's Fallen Soldiers" by Marc Wilson.
