Krannert Uncorked. My neighbor was playing. they were having Uncorked for about 4 thursdays in July. Packed with people of all ages. Large selection of wines, etc. I prefer not getting the house wines as they are very vinegary. Grab two wines so you don't have to wait in the line again. Get their very early to sit at a small table. there's open seating, as well as, tall tables towards the back. sound is great as they use the best equipment. usually two bands. One at 5 and one at 7pm. restrooms are always very clean and next to the venue. Below ground parking with large elevator. no charge for the underground parking. plenty of places to eat and drink around and next to Krannert.

We had a function in the Great Hall that was fantastic. What a gem for such a small city. We have gone to concerts in the Krannert Center and the acoustics are more than acceptable.

There are 7 stages in the center, if you count the one in the lobby, the one in the basement, and the amphitheater outside. The best is the Foellinger Great Hall, which has fabulous acoustics that keep attracting some of the best symphonies to come and perform. Each year, I buy about 10 sets of tickets for performances at the center, and have seen many of the top 20 symphonies perform here.

We purchased 5 tickets in the second row BEFORE I broke my ankle and had to have surgery...so I am non weight bearing. You either have to navigate the stairs or are forced to sit in a tiny section at the TOP of the main seating area (a looooooong way from the stage). They have stairs down the middle of the auditorium and also stairs on both sides of the seating areas. The stairs on the sides need to be converted to wheelchair ramps. I ended up going down the stairs and then back up them on my rear end, which was neither convenient, comfortable nor dignified. If there had been an emergency, I would never have been able to make it out of the building in a timely manner. We saw the Nutcracker Production which I would rate a 5...but when I combine it with a 1 for the lack of accessibility, then it comes to a 3. Seriously, this is 2019...WAY past time for a wheelchair ramp!!!

This is a magnificent center for the performing arts on the University of Illinois campus. Go online to read the history of the place but go in person to experience the perfect accoustics of the hall. There is FREE parking in an onsite parking garage. An easily accesible elevator carries patrons up to the large, open lobby that contains a cafe, gift shop, and bar.

The Foellinger Great Hall in the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in Urbana, Illinois, is known for its acoustics, like the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah. Some world-famous orchestras like the Chicago Symphony and the Sydney Symphony have used the hall for recordings. Foellinger Great Hall, with 2,078 seats, is the largest of the four venues in the Krannert Center, which is located at 500 South Goodwin Avenue on the campus of the University of Illinois. An educational and performing arts complex, it was created by a $16 million gift by Herman C. Krannert, an industrialist and founder of Inland Container Corporation and an Illinois alum. The architect was Max Abramovitz, also an Illinois alum and the builder of the State Farm Center in 1963. The Krannert Center opened in 1969. The main lobby features a floor made of teak from Thailand and cost $1 million. The marble walls came from Carrara, Italy. The other venues in the Krannert Center are the Tyron Festival Theatre with 974 seats on two levels primarily intended for operas, the Colwell Playhouse with 674 seats for plays and dance performances, the Studio Theatre with 200 seats for experimental performances and the Ampitheatre, which is located on the outside of the Krannert Center and is a common spot for students to relax, study and socialize. It is a popular on-campus first date destination and was voted "Best Spot to Share A First Kiss" by the student population in 2006.

Krannert is one of the premiere performance environments in the country. It is a gem of this area. The acoustics in the great hall are phenomenal.

Attending a concert here this evening. Really looking forward to it. However, came early for dinner at Intermezzo Cafe. Wine was advertised at $5 per glass. When I went to the register my friend and I were each charged $6 per glass. When we brought it to the attention of the young man at the register he offered no explanation. When we spoke to the woman in charge, again, no explanation or refund was offered. My recommendation? Avoid the Intermezzo. Wondering how much Krannert made on wine this evening.
