We had hoped to visit for the 1950s fete, however booking a week ahead for a disabled parking spot left us with a 3 o'clock spot.
The very nice gentleman on the gate advised me to drive down to reception and park in the mini bus area
a) as it was late in the day
b) only a couple of disabled cars parked at that time.
However it was totally full. It seems that helpers and staff had parked in this area. So by the time we drove back to the car park and eventually got in it was 3.30pm. Everything had ended around 3pm.
Still a look around the shop and coffee with a Scone. We had the last 2 Scones of the day "Dragons Breath Scones" what a treat, NT always have great Scones but these were something else. Cheese, Chilli and Paprika Pepper. If you get the chance try them.
If you are visiting the area do pop in to "Greenway" it's worth it.

We left the NT Greenway none the wiser as to the life of the author and collector Agatha Christie. Such is the NT policy to dump down it’s information provided to the visitor that you are left having to glean any information on the property and it’s former residence, from the brief sound bits provided within the room guide. Apparently in the drive to improve the visitor experience, information has been withdrawn for fear of overwhelming and worst still boring the visitor, according to a member of staff I questioned. So having walked through a series of drab poorly lit rooms with no visitors information displayed, we left having learnt nothing apart from the depressing state of the NT visitor experience.

We were very lucky to bag two tickets for "Agatha after dark". A private tour of the house including some parts not open to the public. It was magical, we were met with a champagne reception and the incredibly knowledgeable staff introduced themselves and dropped hints of what could be expected. We split into two small groups and set off into the house.
It was a whirlwind of information, anecdotes and artefacts from the ladies incredible life, of which writing 197 publications played only a small part. We learned so much about this amazing polymath-truly a renaissance women in every way. My personal favourite was learning she was the first western woman to surf standing up in Hawaii!!
An absolute belter of a night made possible by the incredible staff , we can't think them enough and can't wait to go back again.
P.s. When the evening called for a couple to dance the tango we leapt at the opportunity. My wife being an ex competitive dancer and me being an awful show off ,we practiced once and managed to get away with it.

We made a special trip to the Fifty's Fete from Dorset, we had previously visited this event a few years earlier and had a wonderful time with lots going on and things to participate in. We dressed up in our fifty's attire, looking forward to the day. We walked into the walled garden expecting to see an exciting event. Oh Boy! were we disappointed. There were only five stalls. The only refreshment someone selling cider. The general consensus was that most people were disappointed, especially those like us who had dressed up for the occasion. The only bright side was some fifty's dancing. I asked myself who organised this event or should I say did not organise it! The National Trust let the public down, why advertise this non event on your website? I would then add in addition to the lack of stalls there was a lack of curtsey transport. Only one transporter was working. People had to wait nearly 40 minutes in our case, to be transported to the upper car park or the quay.
I must say the house and gardens were as beautiful as ever.

Wanted to visit here for a long time, it didn't disappoint. The house is beautiful and the rooms well reserved as Agatha Christie and her family left it. knowledgeable staff on hand. The views across the River Dart made for a scenic and tranquil setting, enjoyed by people from their authentic period deckchairs. We saw picnics provided to some visitors, who may have been guests at the properties rentable apartments. We visited the boathouse complete with family room overlooking the river, and stood in the WW11 bunker in the garden. We even tried our forearm smash on the tennis court.
We made the most of the day by travelling on the Steam train from Paignton, then the Kingswear ferry to Dittisham to catch the ferry to Greenway. The National Trust supply a free car ride to and from the house from the ferry for those who might find the walk up a little difficult. What a beautifully tranquil and fascinating day. Enjoyed every minute, and would definitely do it again.

Took the Christie belle boat from Dartmouth harbour to greenway to visit Agatha Christie house, tickets easily purchased from the booth but not easy to see where to board the boat! So many people all waiting for different trips ensure you board the Christie belle! Staff are helpful so ask. A short 30 min Informative boat journey indicating places of interest en route, is well worth it.
Agatha Christie house is national trust and amazing! All staff so helpful and informative, but be warned, wear flat shoes it’s an uphill walk. I think there maybe option of a lift but unsure of this, it’s definitely not flat. All great coffee, snacks, and food with alcohol available with surprisingly good toilets! Took a short ferry to dittisham but don’t recommend very under whelming with just a pub and cafe. Enjoy your day!

I genuinely have no clue what to say because this was AMAZING!! I am not a mega Agatha Christie fan, don’t know much about her, but this was just so interesting and you got to walk in her footsteps and the fun thing is, before the house was owned by National Trust, Agatha’s daughter added about 3-4 things but refused to move anything of her mothers so it’s like a house frozen in time, untouched since Agatha was alive!! On the first floor you can also see the signed first editions of her books and, whilst you can’t touch anything for obvious reasons, you can see where she lived and find out about her! There is a painting of 4-year-old Agatha in the drawing room, which has a doll next to it which is in the portrait, Agatha’s childhood doll! Everyone thinks of her as a little old lady but actually, she was such a brave woman! You can also see photos of her when she was young that is nowhere else! Fun Fact that I learned from here: She used to surf! 10/10 Will go again!!- loads of toilets as well as 2 cafes, a shop and a second-hand bookshop! If you buy a Christie book in the shop, you can get a limited edition Greenway house stamp! Hope you all enjoy!

Today revisited Greenway with my in laws. I had pre-booked the car park blue badge parking and a wheelchair. On arrival Bob directed us to the lower car park and we collected the wheelchair from the visitor centre. All the staff at the visitor centre were amazing, thank you so much for being so helpful. We had a wonderful wander around the gardens on the accessible pathway then toured the house. We didn't see the house on our first visit so lovely to see all the collections. Had a fabulous day out thank you to all at Greenway.

Lovely place, and so much to see and do there. Loved all the games they put out for the kids. House was gorgeous, cafe and coffee was top notch. You have to book parking online as it's limited, although when we went there, there was lots of spaces available. I guess people didn't turn up....anyway, it meant that the place wasn't too busy. Overall, not to be missed, even if you're not an Agatha fan, it's still a lovely place to visit. Thank you staff and volunteers.

Really impressed at how authentic the property and possession’s have been kept.
I didn’t imagine that much of Agatha Christie’s originally owned items would still be at the house and in such good condition. Fascinating glimpse at her life away from the lime light.
Gardens are absolutely stunning and perfectly set on the river with its own little piece of world war history.

The shuttle bus only runs Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays that time of year. You will be able to get a taxi from Churston to Greenway.

Hi there,
From London you will need to get the train to Paignton. From Paignton you can then get a steam train (times and days vary) this will take you to Greenway Halt. After getting of at Greenway Halt there is roughly a 10-15 minute walk to Visitor Reception.

Hi we travel by motorcycle. Do we have to prebook too? Right now , the booking applet on the site shows there are no free parking spaces anymore for entire July? 🙁

Hello I am sorry I have only just seen your question. My answer is that I don't know about motorcycles although personally I would have thought they could be squeezed in round the edges. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Kind regards
