We've been to many Indiana state parks. This is definitely one of the better parks! There are plenty of trails (trail #5 is over six miles in a loop). There is a well maintained fire tower that stands 100 feet high!! And there is a massive, natural-habitat, bison pen (with 8 or 9 bison). How neat is that?!

A great state park with a nice lake and a great set of trails to hike. A great place to head to get outdoors but also social distance. The bison exhibit adds some umiqueness to this park.

This park is nice. It used to have pool, but now you swim in a pond. The hiking trails are not good unless you go when it's really dry. Some of the directional signage on trails is missing so be aware of that. Other wise it's pretty nice.. Just wish they would fix the trails.

Enjoy the modern amenities of one of Indiana’s newest SP. Fun fact: Ouabache is french for the Indian pronunciation of Wabash. Be in shape for the 6 mile hike that takes you on a tour of the entire park and alongside the Wabash river. Secluded camping for RV and tents. Wonderful ‘camp’ layout design for tent camping groups. Paved bike trails, swim at the beach after seeing the buffalo camp. Enjoy one of Indiana’s finest.

Thank you for your kind review. We hope you enjoyed our newly renovated Fire Tower. You can get an awesome view of the Bison enclosure from the top and also see the lake. Our Friends group will be hosting the Wonderland of LIghts in December in Campground A and throughout the park.

We camped at this State Park for 4 nights. Really enjoyed watching the bison and walking the trail that encompasses their pen. The firetower was very nice to climb and see the views of the area in a distance. Just watch out for the bird poop at the top! :-) They have hiking trails from easy to moderate. We enjoyed walking along them in such a peaceful setting. Several campsites available during the week. Had two separate campground areas. Campground A and B. Recommend camping in Campground A, as they had paved lots, and the fire rings were on top of a cement block. Naturally, we reserved a site in B. Gravel lot, and the fire ring was pretty rusted out, and not on a cement block. Pretty small site, too. The restrooms were always very clean. The park offers a paved bike trail, too, which was very nice to ride. One can rent paddleboats, canoes, and bicycles. The swimming pool is closed, but there is a small beach on the lake. The park also has tennis and basketball courts, along with a bocce court. The park really has a lot to offer. It is a smaller state park, but a very nice one.

We attended the Patriotic Pops concert in June. What a treat! To hear beautiful music surrounded by nature. Afterward, we visited the Bison park, so amazing to see these animals. We didn’t have time to view the rest of the park, worthwhile trip with friends and family.

Had a sunny break in the middle of snowstorms so drove out to our state park to view the herd of bison and see if the fire tower is open yet. Hiking trails, small beach, canoes, kayaks, playgrounds and an enclosed lodge are just minutes away from my hometown. Will drive out again soon to see if any bison calves are born yet...so fun to watch them play!

Great State Park for winter walks on the trails and paths. Buffalo pins for viewings . New beach at the lake. Pool closed in 2018.

We stopped to check out the park on our way to Angola and didn't have much time. It's a beautiful, small, well kept park. They have nice hard bike trails. The hiking trails are all easy or moderate and very flat. Perfect for older folks like us. There is a pool for summer recreation and a very nice little lake and nice picnic areas. I don't know much about camp grounds so I can't comment on them. There are some kind of uniques things at the park. They have a bison exhibit. (Really cool) Buggy parking lot and a bocce ball court. I wish we lived closer but we will come back when we have a day.

Thank you for checking out Ouabache State Park. We are so glad you found the bison, hiking trails, picnic areas, and Bocce Ball court. We have 124 campsites with electric hook up. We also provide a dump/fill station. Restrooms in the campground are open year round. December 1-December 31st, Campground A is closed for our Friends of Ouabache "Wonderland of Lights" event. For a $5 donation; you may drive through the campground and around the Firetower to enjoy our light show and vendor displays of lights.
Our pool has closed and we now offer swimming at our beach. Bike rentals and boat rentals are available May through September. We look forward to you stopping back and visiting again!

I know this is a hard question to answer, but is there a good chance of seeing a lot of buffalo in summer? We'd only go here for that, so it's important...thanks!

yes there about eight buffalo at the park now.
Is the fire open? We are camping here at the end of the month.

How much does it cost to go to the pool? And will it be open Sunday, Sept. 4? Hours?
Also, what does it cost to rent kayaks or paddle boats?

The pool closed Labor Day weekend. I just received this and apologize for my lateness in answering. We do rent kayaks, canoes, and rowboats for $5.00 and hour plus tax. Paddleboats are $8.00 and hour plus tax. Boathouse hours on Saturday and Sunday, open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. weather permitting. Thanks and we hope you visit us soon!
