The price of a round at Timbergate is very reasonable. The carts are electric and work well. You could walk the course rather easily, as it is flat, and the holes aren't all that far apart. This course looks to be fairly new. The fairways are a little narrow, and your errant drives will end up in some rough that gave me fits early on. The greens are in great shape for the most part, very receptive for your approach shots. Some of the patrons could do a better job fixing their ball marks. Most of the bunkers are grass, though there are some fairway bunkers that look to be quite penalizing. I don't really think any of the water hazards come into play. The pro shop is very nice, and though I didn't have time to enjoy it, the bar and grill sounded popular.

I was in town on business....came directly from work and tees off by 6:00 pm. Finished 9 holes in 1 hour and asked to play more. I was told no carts out after 6:30. Sad when there is a solid hour and a half of daylight left. Fun track to play....just don’t plan to play after work. Most courses would welcome the play, but not this one! Business travelers don’t waster your time unless you have a free afternoon!

Timbergate Golf Course is one of the four Indiana courses rated to be a "good value" by Golf Digest and is a public course. Course is located in Edinburgh, IN just off of I-65 at exit 80. They are also just North of the Edinburgh Premium Outlet shopping facility and Hoosier Horse Park. Timbergate was designed by Clyde Johnston, with Indiana native Fuzzy Zoeller. Fuzzy geared the course to be challenging to experienced players as well as playable by higher handicappers. Each hole has five or more bent grass tees, varying the yardage of the course from 5000 to 7000 yards. Ponds and bunkers skirt some of the bent grass fairways and greens. Blue grass and fescue roughs surround every hole. We played on a rainy, dreary day, following an outing. After following the last group (they had a shotgun start) for two holes, we had the course to ourselves. Despite the weather, we had an excellent time. Sun even arrived about when we made the turn. The tees, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Course management was very friendly and obliging, apologizing for the weather and the resultant delay in the outing's finish. They have a good practice green and driving range. Their pro shop is also large and well fitted. All in all, we really loved this course and look forward to heading back.

This is a nice, but difficult links style golf course. It is decently priced and fairly well maintained. It has tees for all levels of play. The rough can be quite difficult.

The layout is an interesting links style with lots of mounding, several lakes and tall fescue natural areas. The course is only 6965 from the black tees with a 130 slope rating and is in very good condition with tightly mown bent grass fairways, tees and greens. The course is relatively flat with gently rolling fairways as it IS in central Indiana, but what it lacks in distance and elevation is compensated by a constant wind that gives the layout some bite! As is the case with most public courses, everyone wants good conditions with nice greens but nobody wants to fix ball marks! Unfortunately, the greens had an abundance of un-repaired marks. The layout won't beat you up and is fun to play just keep it between the mounding and you will have an enjoyable day. Take a few extra seconds on the greens and FIX a few extra ball marks too!

Timbergate is an excellent 18 hole championship golf course just off I-65 in Edinburgh Indiana.
Each hole has it's own unique character and none repeat an earlier hole. None are excessively difficult yet all are challenging. If you are a big hitter, the back tees offer even more of a challenge. I use the forward (senior) tees and usually am in a position to shoot for par.
The clubhouse is modern and attractive and offers a full snack bar including beer and/or mixed drinks.
I paid $27 to ride 18 during the week - senior rate.
Only "negatives" are traffic noise from I-65 ( about 4-5 holes are right next to the highway) and the lack of GPS in the cart.
We play here once a month or so - it would be more often if it weren't so far from home (about 20 miles).
Highly recommend this course.
