Visiting family in Elkhart and needed something to do on a rainy morning. This is perfect for a few hours. Admission is not expensive. It's a small museum with very knowledgeable and friendly staff. It is a small version of a big art museum. Many interesting pieces and a large display of Norman Rockwell paintings. They also focus on many local pieces that have interesting back stories. A very well done museum in a re-purposed building, it used to be a bank. They even have exhibits in the old vault. My only wish is that is was bigger.

Great museum of American Art with famous American artists as Rockwell, Whislter, Sargent. George Caitlin and many others. Very impressive works. Also had a temp exhibit on Comic Book art in the US. This museum is an undiscovered gem with very informative staff members who also helped us with other attraction in the area.
Museum is also in a great location in downtown Elkhart

Would you expect to see art by Andy Warhol, Alexander Calder, Robert Rauschenberg, Norman Rockwell, Jim Dine, Grant Wood, Ivan Allbright and many others in a former bank building in downtown Elkhart, Indiana? If you are in the area, this is a must-see for art and culture lovers.

Very special art museum with an impressive collection. Grandma Moses painting, Largest Rockwell print collection, as well as many wonderful pieces of art. You will be pleasantly surprised if you have an appreciation of art. The building used to be an old bank and you can see indentations in the marble floors of where the customers used to stand in line. The vault looks like something from Fort Knox. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. Also, stop at New Paradigm for a craft brew and an awesome burger or 523 Tap & Grille, just to name a couple cool places in downtown Elkhart. My wife & I enjoy going there for lunch or dinner.

Schon die Anfahrt ist wenig erbaulich. Wie in vielen amerikanischen alten Innenstädten ist auch Historic Elkhart ohne leben und trostlos. Wenn man durch die doppelte Tür des Museums geht, schlägt einem muffig warme Luft entgegen. Mir hat das Museum überhaupt nicht gefallen.

Tour the Victorian era museum. Old station charm. Little gift shop. A running model train area is very detailed. And you can look inside a dining car. And also, there is a train ride.

My main reason for visiting this museum during our week-long visit to the area was to see the collection of Norman Rockwell lithographs that they have displayed. It didn't disappoint. The collection is quite large and was very interesting to see. I've long admired Rockwell's work and it was a pleasure to see so many pieces in one setting.
There was also in interesting display of a Marilyn Monroe sculpture and information about how the artist created the sculpture. This artist has also created other pieces that are on display on the public streets of Elkhart. They are all very life-like and detailed.

The museum is well worth visiting. It is small but has many interesting pieces. The Rockwell collection is very nice. I really enjoyed the visit. It is very manageable to see in an hour so it is a nice stop.

My first visit to this museum was very satisfactory! The historic bank building is a perfect setting for the impressive collection of artwork. I would definitely make a return trip.

We had read about this place and easily found it while driving through town on a Lincoln Highway tour. Upstairs is a large collection of Norman Rockwell originals. Downstairs are assorted originals from famous and not-so-famous artists, sculptors and photographers.
All is nicely presented. This is definitely worth a stop if you're in Elkhart.
