My wife and I and our 2 grandchildren visited you on Saturday. We were the "foreigners" from New Albany. We came for the planetarium but were pleased with the rest of what we got to see. We appreciated your talk for the show of skies over Evansville and your willingness to take questions and comments.
After the 2 shows, we went through the area that showed the history of Evansville and then the area outside with the train. Everything was well-suited to a visitor who wanted to know more about Evansville. We want to be sure others know about how pleased we were. I think it is fair to say we will be there again.

My wife and I spent about 3 hours here on our visit. There are great kids hands on exhibits based on science that are fun and very educational. There is lots of interesting history of the Evansville area with period maps, clothing, artifacts like typewriters and newspaper articles. There was an interesting presidential exhibit. I am not into art, but there were 2 art galleries. Next door and part of the museum was the railroad museum with an HO layout and many rail artifacts. Out back was a steam engine, diner / lounge car and caboose, all open to be viewed up close.

I have to visit here every time I'm back in town. I love the collections that they have and spotlights. I cannot do the planetarium due to motion sickness but the kids and husband love it.

We took a day trip and this one did not disappoint. Activities for my pre teen, museum artifacts set up in such a fun way, a movie to break up the ‘reading’ 😜. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. And separate from the museum was a fun locomotive area to explore as well. You can get as much or as little as possible. Highly recommend for a fun learning experience which didn’t feel like ‘learning’.

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful museum. Even though it is expensive, it was worth it (although I would recommend them to consider having some kind of discount at least for seniors).

surprisingly good for a smaller city. Really liked the exhibits they had on display. Located right on the Ohio River downtown, so you can take a walk on riverfront after the visit.

The employees were really nice, and the price was fair. It only took about an hour to go through everything (not including the planetarium). I was surprised that the hands-on area that seemed geared toward kids actually was very interesting to us adults as well. I loved the planetarium, even though the movie we saw was a bit outdated. Part of the reason is, of course, that things change and advance very fast where space exploration is involved. But it was still interesting. The trains were really cool, and it was neat to get to actually board them and look around.

Very interesting. The hours are cut down which is a bummer in the summer. They’re now closed 3 days a week! The exhibits are wonderful and I’m so glad they haven’t changed too much.

When we visited the museum recently, it had been about 15 years since the last time I had been. Honestly, it didn't feel like much had changed. I often found myself enjoying it only for nostalgic reasons, but nothing honestly persuaded me to invest into becoming a member. The exhibits and art seemed quite run of the mill and the planetarium experience ("Space Next") reminded me an outdated CGI movie that went on too long. The two employees (volunteers?) at the cash register in the gift shop talked among themselves while I stood there patiently and never responded when I said "thank you" several times, which was just awkward and made me feel like a bother. Maybe I'll try again in another 15 years.

I work for the Museum. Sorry we did not see your question sooner. Our admission is $12 for Adults and $8 for children. Admission includes all of our permanent and temp galleries, our EMTRAC transportation center and a hourly giant screen movie.

I become. there aren't a lot of great books about it that I can find, but
i'd like to be instructed by a person or film with experience.

The Evansville Museum has a learning space, which we call The Koch Immersive Theater where we do planetarium shows. The show we do now that I would most recommend is called Skies Over Evansville. Right now we offer this live show Friday, Sat & Sunday at 2 p.m. We're going to implement a new shows schedule soon (which may change the time it is offered), so you'll want to look it up on our website or give us a call. In the show we talk about the stars, planets and constellations and you get to ask questions!Thanks for your question. It will help other travelers I'm sure.

Sorry for the delay, but I have been on vacation and did not see your question until now. The museum does not have a restaurant. There are several restaurants in the downtown and near the casino which are within an easy walk weather permitting. You might also enjoy the Reitz Home Museum, a well maintained Victorian mansion built by a lumber baron, with guided tours. It is located few blocks away from the other museum through a historic section of town with nice older substantial homes. Streets are in a grid so it is easy to find you way around. However, it does not have a restaurant either. Angelo's on Main Street is a nice Italian Restaurant or Shing-Lees on Main or Jaya's on 4th St are good for Asian food. Good chili at the Peephole tavern. Ri Ras for Irish food and atmosphere located on the same street as the museum, west near the casino. Have fun!

The shows in the Immersive Theater are $5 per person. If you purchase Museum admission and theater tickets you receive a $2 discount (only one discount may be used at a time, so you can't get a group discount and a combo discount). The Immersive Theater is ADA compliant.

The Evansville Museum is open Tuesday - Saturday 11 am to 5 pm and Sundays Noon to 5 pm. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children 4-17, and free for children under 4 and Museum Members. There is a group discount, but please call (812)425-2406 ext. 226 for more information on that. The Museum is ADA compliant.
