Conner Prairie has long been a cherished destination for those wanting to step back in time and experience an authentic 1830s Indiana village. However, the recent addition of a modern building in the heart of this historical setting is deeply disappointing. The charm and educational value of Conner Prairie lie in its faithful recreation of a bygone era, and the presence of a contemporary structure starkly contrasts with this objective. This jarring juxtaposition disrupts the immersive experience that visitors have come to expect and diminishes the historical integrity of the village. I hope Conner Prairie will reconsider this decision and take steps to restore the authenticity of this treasured site.

Attended a Journey tribute band concert. Venue and band were both fantastic. Was great to have large screens since we were back aways. Restrooms were some of the best for outside entertainment.

A living history experience. Starting in the 1800's and moving by decades through time. Children go for school field trips. The Indpls. Symphony Orchestra plays summer concerts on the lawn from June through August with giant jumbotrons set up. They also have a tethered hot air balloon ride available for an additional fee. Living history is definitely worth seeing.

We were planning to go see Melissa Etheridge tonight. The show was cancelled just as we were heading out the door. There is no refund. You have to use your ticket for another show. Okay, that sucks but whatever. Then I see that I have to use it in the next 4 weeks and there are only 3 shows to choose from. What??!! The season is almost over and I don’t even get an option to choose a show I want to see in the next season??!! There are 3 more show, none of which I am interested in and 2 of the dates don’t work for me. I feel like Symphony on the Prairie just stole $70 from me.

Conner Prairie offers an experience unlike an other! The reenactors are great at staying in character making you feel like you are in that time period. Kids will really enjoy themselves, also. If you are able to visit in October, the apple store and Conner Scary event is a must try! During this event you can take a haunted hayride at night while being chased my the headless horseman. Highly recommend!

Wow I'm now just writing this even though I went in September. But anyways. I really enjoy this history park. There are like 5 sections each a different part of Indiana history, and there's a bunch of historical interpreters to make it feel you have stepped back in time. I guess the one con is a lot of walking to get to the civil war area but hey, I need the exercise. Make sure you pick up a piece of pottery or crafting at the gift shop made by the artisans. If it wasn't like forty away from school in normal traffic, I'd consider volunteering here.

The characters did a great job of acting in their historical period. It was an interesting place to visit. We could have spent more time there.

Yes, people of all ages may take a balloon voyage. The Animal Encounters Barn would be the perfect place to take your toddler. Check the Conner Prairie website for specifics on balloon and admission ticket pricing,

Is most of this avtivity outside or are there plenty of places to step in and cool off in extreme heat?

I would not recommend walking this on a very humid day, most of the buildings want to look the setting of 1870's inside and out but after you walk the covered bridge you will see a big white house on the right, a little gift shop on the left where you can purchase snacks/drinks and I remember it was cooled and more modern, with the exception of the main entrance building being the other A/C supplied building, everything is 1870's.

Hi! Yes, certainly a half of a day would be an average amount of time to spend at Conner Prairie. However, you could still have a nice time and experience part of the museum in less. And many folks spend all day here strolling through the grounds and really engaging in each opportunity.

What can you tell us about the hot air balloon ride? Cost? Distance traveled or length of time in balloon? Age or height requirements? Can our 4 year old and 6 year old go? We would spend at least 10 hours driving here. Anything else to see? Thanks much!

This balloon is tethered, so it doesn't go anywhere--just "up." I don't think there is an age restriction, but you would be better off contacting Conner Prairie for that information.
The Conner Prairie experience is wonderful, and kids love it; but it's a lot for little ones. With such a long drive, you would want to spend parts of a couple of days there.
