This is a lovely restored theater which is still a work in progress. Due to COVID-19 things are not as they usually are. This theater is run by volunteers and they do their best to replicate how the theater was run back in the day. They offer give away sand a cartoon etc..... it is a fun and nostalgic place to watch a movie. The staff is always friendly and helpful and there are several spots to walk to walk to before or after a movie for a bite to eat or a drink. Give it a try if you haven’t.

I only went here once and I feel that was more than enough. While I am for preserving film and film showings, this particular establishment is VERY unsatisfactory. I think it's totally absurd how they would have simpletons making speeches before the shows and having pesky "ushers" all over the place. It is NOT 1955, people! It's now the 2020's; but, I won't get into that. The one thing I don't like about the theatre staff is that they are very discourteous. I understand that things aren't quite the same as a result of COVID-19, but they could at least explain things a little better. I was in line waiting to get concessions and there was one worker who was VERY rude, said something offensive, and cracked laughter. This, of course, upset me, and I walked away. However, what really sucked is the fact one of the jokers for staff decided to give me "free popcorn." THE NERVE! Free food does not make up for someone's lack of consideration. Furthermore, a cash refund is not enough either. I should've REFUSED it. Instead, I accepted it and threw it away in anger. Listen, "Hoosiers." There is no excuse for for unprofessional behavior. As a result of the foolish actions brought upon by your staff, I am NEVER setting foot at the Artcraft and/or especially the awful town it's located at. Avoid this theatre. Better yet, avoid the sump of Indiana period for all the reasons I just mentioned and more. It's not worth anybody's time and/or trouble.

Our first trip to the Artcraft in December was exactly what we expected--it was just like the movie theaters we went to as teenagers, but with no sticky floors, cigarette smoke, or balconies. We saw "White Christmas" for the first time on a theater screen, and it was a delightful trip back in time--the prices were affordable for both admission and concessions (the popcorn was all freshly popped!), and the theater was clean. The staff is friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is authentically retro, including neon lights, and the selection of movies is mostly family-friendly, with old cartoons before the feature. The Artcraft is well into the process of a loving restoration, so it's nothing like the current multiplexes, and that's the charm of it all. We will definitely be back!

I love seeing some of the old movies here. We always come out here to watch Christmas vacation every year. I used to come here and watch movies so it is awesome to see how much nicer it is now.

This is a lovely old theater that upholds the charm of days passed. They have a great line-up of family friendly shows, shows for the more senior audiences from their youth, and wonderful popcorn.

While visiting Franklin I had an afternoon to spare and as luck would have it a classic movie was playing at the Artcraft. It was just down the street from our B&B (The Flying Frog) and an easy walk. The volunteers at the theater were all friendly and helpful, the tickets were inexpensive, and the popcorn was good. The local community is very supportive of this theater and they had a nice crowd for an afternoon matinee on a weekday. This was 2 hours well spent and the movie and cartoon were good. Franklin is to be commended for the theater restoration and the beautiful downtown area.

Love seeing the old classics on film. The theater has been thoughtfully restored. I found the seat to be comfortable and they have great popcorn!

I miss the movies that they show now days. It is a great place to take kids to see a show we saw the last picture that they showed back when the old group owned it..

We have seen a few dozen movies here, often with friends. A neat enjoyable theatre, often full or mostly full with patrons from all over. Each movie is proceeded by a cartoon and also a fun introduction that might include door prizes, a gift to the person who traveled the farthest to attend, etc. - the MC is enjoyable. The movies are classic movies, as opposed to the current "at the theatre" movies, many times in black and white. Can order tickets online and pick up at box office - best way to go if movie is popular as it can be sold out. We always come early to get a good seat and enjoy the introduction.

Evening movies at the Artcraft include prize drawings and a short skit called "Short Attention Span Theatre." A long-distance award goes to the patron who has traveled the farthest to see the film. Families now regularly bring out-of-state visitors and exchange students from out of the country to win this "coveted" award. U.S. and world maps with pins stuck in hometowns show where these visitors have come from over the years,
