I have been to many similar sites around the country. What makes this special is that the majority of the items in the house are the original items used by the Harrisons. The guided tour was well worth the price, and the 90 minutes of time invested!

I knew next to nothing about Benjamin Harrison prior to our visit. Such an interesting president and such a great tour! Grace was our guide. She was full of information, obviously knew way more than she had time to share on the tour, and she was fabulous! Learned so much! Such a progressive man - big on women's rights, women's education, social justice and safety net programs - all unheard of in his time. The house is wonderful and most of the furnishings/items inside were actually his/the family's. Very close to the State House which was also really interesting and beautiful. Highly recommend.

My husband and I were impressed with the tour of Gen. Benjamin Harrison’s lovely home. The friendly tour guide was an excellent speaker and was knowledgeable and experienced. He told several entertaining stories about visitors to the historic home from the 20 years he has served as a docent, and he seemed familiar with every part of the home. I cannot think of one improvement that could be made to the fascinating tour.

This was one of the best tours I have been on. Our guide was so incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience really come alive. So glad this home has been able to maintain so much authenticity! Very worthwhile!!!

My husband and I visited yesterday, June 29, and the experience was delightful! The house is exquisite; there are so many furnishings, photos, and more were owned by the Harrison family. Best of all- the tour was delightful and so informative. Jennifer was simply amazing. We highly recommend a visit and give your self time because you do get your money’s worth. Our tour lasted almost two hours. Thank you for the wonderful time and education!

Great 2+ hour tour of of the former Presidents house. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Recommend the earliest tour of the day. There's very limited parking at the site (there does appear to be parking near-by) and by doing the first tour of the day you are much more likely to find a spot.
The items at the gift shop are reasonably priced. The grounds and the house are beautiful. As mentioned before, the staff are great.

This is the home of Benjamin Harrison and is a very large home. Almost all of the furniture and artifact in the home or original to the Harrison family. The cost was $16.00 per person ($15 for Seniors) for a guided tour that lasted for 1 hour and 45 minutes and the tour guide was talking continuously providing information of even minute items. It was a great tour. Our only problem was finding it using our GPS. It led us to another historic looking building in the area. I then located this site near by. The streets in this are are very confusing.

Fantastic tour. House is stunning and in great condition. Special thanks to Jayne who was kind, knowledgeable and just plain old wonderful. If these sites had more people like her, they would all be very lucky! If you can, catch the 1/12 scale miniature at the State Capitol during the summer of 2024, it is an amazing replica.

Over the years, I have visited dozens of historic sites around the country and almost all presidential home sites. Without question, the tour I experienced today with our guide, Grace, was a 10 out of 10. The home is beautifully preserved, full of authentic artifacts specific to the Harrison’s, and Grace brought it all to life. I learned a great deal and have a much more vivid, accurate sense of this President, his two wives and children, than ever before. Pure joy today.

I would like to take a group of 8th graders on this tour. Would that age group be interested? Or would they lose interest?

It would be pretty esoteric for a high energy, short attention span class. If that description doesn’t apply, then it could work. But a drawback will be that the tour is not conducive to large groups, unless you arrange in advance so you can have more than one host and break the class into groups of about eight. Any larger and it is hard to fit into the rooms as you walk around the house and see cheat the docent is talking about or pointing to. Also, the exhibits in the other building and the exhibits on the to floor are small so a group larger than 10-12 would be in each other’s way.

Hello,
We have a ramp up to the front door and a elevator. Tours begin in the Welcome Center (carriage house). On Sat. Feb. 21st we are open from 10:00 to 3:30. Tours are on the hour and half hour. Tours last about one hour 15 mins.
