We loved sitting on the very top deck and enjoying the beautiful evening. There are tables and chairs where you can sit comfortably. We could see thunderstorms around us threatening, but it only enhanced the sunset. There was a great local band playing, dancing, and some adult games. Everyone seemed to be having a great time! There is also a concession stand with a small offering of food. My husband had a hot dog, and I had a soft pretzel. I believe there was also pulled pork, maybe hamburgers and cheeseburgers, popcorn, and candy bars. Maybe a few other things. There is not much of a menu, but most people go to dinner beforehand. But, you can get a little snack. They have a full bar and soft drinks. Most of their cruises are 21+. I highly recommend Madam Carrol. You must pre-purchase a ticket and for the entertainment cruise, the cost is $25.00. It's so enjoyable to just have a snack, sit on the deck and enjoy the views! And there's drinking and dancing as well. Just GO!

After a long day of walking this is a nice, refreshing, relaxing boat ride around Lake Shaffer. Tour guide was very friendly and amusing. If you have little kids make sure to bring snacks and drinks to keep them from getting restless.

Our Corvette club took an evening dinner cruise on the Madam Carroll. None of us had ever been before. We enjoyed the lake and were pleasantly surprised by the buffet food catered by the Sportsman Inn. The fish was fried on board after we boarded. The cruise is scenic and the live music was good. Prices are reasonable and the service was great. The only thing I would change is the density of the seating, as we were knocking elbows at the tables.

Last night was my 5th trip aboard the Madam Carroll this year. The new owners have done a wonderful job updating this Lake Freeman classic. The Flying Toasters is a favorite with our group of couples, such a fun dancing band, we enjoyed the themed Derby Cruise and last night was a job well done for the United Way Benefit Cruise. It can get quite loud downstairs by the dance floor, sometimes we enjoy that atmosphere and other times we enjoy a more peaceful, beautiful view on the upper deck. I highly recommend finding a cruise that's right for you and enjoy the Madam Carroll!

We went to see the Flying Toaster. Great dance band, who know all the great songs. They know how to keep you on the dance floor. Drinks range from 5 to 9 dollars. Seating on main floor is a little crowded, but i can handle it. Cruise was about 4 hours. Great time. NOTE: upper deck is smoking, and i heard several people complain. Had a great time.

My family went on the Madam Carroll this past weekend for our grandmother’s birthday. Upon boarding, the security guard disregarded me and my wife when we were introduced to him by my grandmother. Not a big deal. I’m a bigger person than that. Everyone was having a good time drinking and dancing until we entered the lake for the second time that evening. Besides myself, my brother and a small group of girls, everyone on the boat were predominantly white. The same security guard that dismissed me and my wife in the beginning of the night, made my brother exit the inside of the boat to tell him that he was told that my brother had “dope” and he was smoking it on the dance floor. My brother is a large Mexican man who also had on a flat brim White Sox hat. After, my brother told the guard, which we later found out was a previous police officer, that he does not do drugs, the guard made my brother empty all of his pockets and patted him down. Meanwhile, on the inside of the boat, the dance floor smelled of marijuana. I attempted to approach my brother and the guard to advise that someone is smoking inside while my brother was OUTSIDE, the guard began to scream into my face. Even after my brother’s pockets were emptied, he was standing outside and the dance floor still smelled of marijuana, the guard still did not believe my brother. This is 100% racial profiling. Once we told the guard that is was racial profiling, he began to scream in both of our faces that he was not racist. For how fast this man escalated his emotions, I’m assuming this is not the first time he has been called that. Not only did he racially profile me and my brother, he then continued to lose all control of his emotions, the atmosphere of the boat and other people on the boat who began to scream and physically fight. On Monday, we called to speak with the owner of the boat. It was stated that he was onboard Saturday night and was screaming in my face, as well as others, calling us “fat and racist b*tches.” I am certainly glad this boat will be ending their business journey sooner than later. There is no room for this intolerance and poor lack of customer service.

We have been coming tot he Madam Carroll at least 2-3 times a year for bands. So much fun. I have never been on a dinner cruise but hear it is wonderful.

Whether you go for the Sportman Inn buffet cruise or a Saturday night concert cruise or a family Sunday cruise on Lake Freeman...this is affordable fun for the entire family. I've even been to fundraiser events on board. Our church rented it once. I know it's been used for quite a few local celebrations! Great venue!

The Madam Carroll is a Monticello treat! The trip is on Lake Freeman toward the dam and then back to the dock. Food and sometimes a band are available. The food is an additional purchase and there is a fee to ride the boat.Once on the boat you can sit inside and look out the windows or go to the top deck outside and enjoy the scenery in the evening. Check for shows/bands and booking private events before going since there are limited operational times during seasonal hours. The Madam Carroll is worth a trip on Lake Freeman, if you are in Monticello.

Spent last Saturday afternoon aboard the Madam Carroll. Usually we had been on the evening cruises, and enjoyed the night air and lights. This time we were actually able to see the shoreline and houses along the way.
