Facebook Sensation
This is a small (285 acres) SRA near Seymour, Indiana. The past year or so, it's been a Facebook sensation due to the fabulous lakeside camping pictures. We hadn't been here before, so we decided to check it out.

Camping, kayaking, fishing. There's a small beach. I wouldn't swim there, due to the algae, but to each his own.
The "education center" (nature center) is small, but has some displays.

There's access to the trails in Jackson-Washington State Forest. I did the red, yellow, white & blue. The blue is very rugged. The rest are family friendly, but muddy & rooty.

Camping: sites 1-43 are lakeside. We camped at 35, which was ok, but had 3 trees blocking most of the view. I would say 30-34 are the best IMO.
201-255 are full hookup. The rest are wooded, shady sites.
All the sites are close together with no privacy. Get over it.

Bathrooms/showers are typical state campground. The bathhouse we used had been updated within the last 10 years. Cleaning was done, but not well.

All in all, it was a nice weekend. The husband said fishing is fair.

Full hookup rv camping
2019年9月 • 好友
We had a group of 6 adults. We had 2 rvs. The full hookup spots are large & easily accommodated our group. We were able to get together on one site for dinners & campfires. Some in the group fished & kayaked & had good time. The historic bridge and farm stands nearby were fun also. Pretty park but, as with all campgrounds, way too many unattended children.

Favorite Place
2019年5月 • 家庭
This is one of our favorite places to camp with a tent or with our pop-up. Many sites are right on the lake with easy access for kayaks or canoes. The campsites are all electric and not cramped. The restrooms bath houses are nicely kept. There is a sand beach and numerous docks with access to the lake. There are many cabins for rent. The only downer is the absence of primitive camping. There are several hiking trails available and my favorite is Turkey Roost.

There is a nice island in the lake near the spillway with picnic tables and a fire ring. It's a nice, usually quiet, place to enjoy the lake life, birds and scenery of southern Indiana.

Beautiful Scenery!

My friends and I went camping last weekend at Starve Hallow and had a fantastic time. Our campsite was plenty big enough for two three person tents, two cars, a firepit, and two picnic tables. My only complaint was the tent sites are also used as camper sites, so the ground is gravely and hard, but you'll be fine if you bring a sleeping pad with you. Campground prices are very reasonable, and so are boat rental prices. The beach is very clean and well kept, fantastic place to watch the sunrise and sunset, and the playgrounds are safe and clean. Bathroom facilities are routinely cleaned and restocked. Showers are available and they have hot water (yay!). Overall an amazing experience!

Nice property!
Visited November 4, 2017 about 1:30pm; 280 acre park with 145 acre lake (trolling motor only); it was a Saturday with temps around 60; camping - 53 full hook-up sites; 87 electric sites; 10 non-electric sites with drinking water; sites can be reserved at and 11 miles of hiking trails. We were surprised there was still a gate being collected ($7, but we used our annual pass); there was not another vehicle in the beach parking area when we arrived. We took a walk along the lake into the campgrounds and back to the parking lot. The beach sand was raked and cleaned for next summer already. The lake water had a significant algae bloom which seems a little strange this late in the season, so it would probably be worse during warm months. The parking lot and campground is relatively flat a excellent for kids and anyone who likes to ride bicycles; we saw a couple families riding. There we several people camping along the lake enjoying the fall weather. The whole area was quiet and peaceful. The campground bathhouse/restroom was nice and clean. We noticed a 3 playgrounds, there could have been more; a couple had the old fashioned metal slides, very neat and teeter totters, but no merry-go-round; too dangerous for kids these days I guess. There was also a nice nature center, but it was closed. I couldn't recommend the beach with the algae bloom I noticed and the fishing wouldn't be the either, but we did notice some people fishing, but didn't see any catching. I would recommend the park for picnics, camping and bicycling. There's also a small fish hatchery at the tailwaters of the lake and the Vallonia State Nursery is past the dam also which deserves a look.

Good camping experience

We camped in the full hook up section, which was a good experience. Camp sites were for the most part fairly level and paved. Park was clean and maintained. Will put this on our list of favorite places to camp.

Great Camping!
Nice place to camp. The lake at Starve Hallow is beautiful. The camping sites are spacious. You can swim but there are no life guards.

Loved this park

We were camping w/ 2 other families, had sites #16,17, &18 along the lake. Great sites, although 18 had trees on both sides of the pad which made it very difficult to back the trailer in. Nice grass area behind our sites to sit & enjoy the water. Restrooms are older, but clean. The full hook-up sites were large & not right on top of one another. We were impressed how clean the park was. Will definitely be back. ( the park entrance comes up on you quick, we passed it up & had to turn around, just FYI :)
