Visiting a college or university campus for the first time is always fun. We arrived on the Valparaiso U campus to visit the art museum, but were immediately drawn to the Chapel building which caught our eye the minute we arrived on campus. The exterior is interesting, from the prominent star-shaped roof with its multi-story stained glass windows that are reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright windows. We walked along the east side of the building to examine the windows as well as the adjacent campus bell tower before entering from the north through the small chapel that opens up into the main santuary. Everywhere we looked, there was something awesome to take in! The main altar and crucifix. The 95-feet-tall stained glass windows. The golden lamps hanging from the ceiling. The balcony that surrounds the main seating area. The mammoth church organ with all its pipes. We spent a good 30 minutes walking around and taking in all the beautiful design elements. We walked down the spiral staircase that surrounds the baptistry. Stunning design!! On that level, there is a hallway filled with historical photos and documents telling the story of the chapel through the years.

The architecture of this unique building caught our eye while passing through Valparaiso’s campus-and the quick stop did not disappoint! The chapel and stained glass are magnificent. Would love to have caught a service or concert here to check out the acoustics. Definitely worth your time.

If you go through Valparaiso, make time to stop by the chapel. It is not only beautiful, but it's large. The stained glass is gorgeous and there is a feeling of serenity here.

The Chapel of the Resurrection on campus of Valparaiso University is a must visit. The structure can be seen from highway 30 so it’s easy to find. Turn in at the campus welcome center and you already have a great view of this structure.

What a beautiful way to have begin the Christmas Season! A lovely concert with vocalists and instrumental music in an outstanding chapel. Would highly recommend making this an annual tradition!!!

Built in the late 1950s to replace the school's original chapel/auditorium destroyed by fire in 1956, this is a masterpiece of mid-century modern architecture. Supposedly the largest university chapel in the U.S. and the second largest in the world (depending on how one measures size apparently - other schools make the same claim), it is certainly impressive with a seating capacity of 2000 and a star-shaped dome rising 98 feet with stained glass windows to match.
We visited the chapel early on a sunny Friday morning and except for a couple of staff members had the place all to ourselves. The large vaulted nave is very impressive with the ceiling rising some 58 feet. Seating is flexible and can be arranged in any configuration needed - when we were there, the space was setup as an auditorium for a musical performance. However, the star is the chancel with its soaring stained glass windows - be sure to see these on a sunny day as they are spectacular when backlighted properly.
From here we went upstairs to the balcony and the loft at the back where the well appointed organ resides, taking up most of the back wall. Finally, we went down stairs in the basement where there is a display on the history of the present chapel, with some interesting photos taken during its construction, and its predecessor, including the fire that destroyed it.
If you're in this part of Indiana, we highly recommend stopping by the campus to see this amazing structure - it is open to the public daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., but if you know a student or staff member, they can gain access after hours until 11 p.m. Don't worry about finding it, it is on the highest point on campus and can be seen for miles.

So for the past 3 years, my brother has been going to the university that this church is located on. We’ve come each year to come see him preform for the summer Lutheran music program there, and it is beautiful on the inside! The staff are so kind, the restrooms are always clean, and after you’ve seen everything, stop by Homeless Jesus sleeping on the bench.

Stop by and see this church. Go inside. It is amazing. Go downstairs also and up. A must see if in Valpo.

Gorgeous building from the outside. The stained glass is of course gorgeous, probably better on a sunny day than in the evening. The concrete makes it a little bleaker inside, but what I most objected to was the cold. Freezing in December! Keep your coat on!

This cathedral and chapel is built with great attention to detail, and is clearly a place devoted to services with a lot of music. There are several pipe organs of various sizes; this biggest one is up the tower staircase in the choir loft.
The stained glass windows depict musical themes, and the entire effect is of an airy holy place. I had the same feeling that I got visiting some of the great ancient cathedrals in Europe, but with a modern design. There is a labyrinth outside, and a modern carillon tower as well.
