The Pappajohn Sculpture Park in downtown Des Moines is like an oasis in the midst of tall buildings. It is relatively small with level grounds and very easy to navigate. There is an audio tour available on phones, but we chose to wander through the park on our own. We recognized some of the sculptures or could identify sculptors from sculptures in other parks. It was a pleasant way to spend an hour. Parking was easy with on-street metered parking. I think the park would be a nice stop for travelers on a road trip or for art lovers.

Beautiful sculpture garden nestled in Des Moines. It has easy walkable paths and the sculptures were picture worthy. This was easily one of our favorites stops on our short trip.

We really enjoyed this park. The day we went the weather was ideal & a young girl was playing a guitar & singing, so we had an added bonus of background music. The sculptures were ALL very unique. We had fun taking pictures & just being outdoors. It's free & very nice.

After having some brunch, we decided to have a walk around downtown Des Moines. We ended up stumbling on this little sculpture park. This area was a great place to explore, and the exhibits were very interactive. If you happen to be in the area, I would definitely recommend exploring this park.

This park was smaller than I expected and not as many sculptures as I expected. Since there was not handicapped parking available, we just circled around the block three times to view all the sculptures. The sculptures are very nice.

We enjoyed all the wonderful sculptures in this lovely park. It is a great place to just stroll through and enjoy the park and the view of the downtown skyline.

Looking for something to do, this would take approximately 30- 45 minutes, if that. A small park.

Cute stop right off the highway to stretch out our legs. Enjoyed a easy 30 min walk. Area was safe and modern looking. Artwork is interesting would have loved to have done the walking tour but we needed to get on our way.

Drive around the park and can essentially see the sculptures from your car. Would be a pleasant walk in the sculpture park itself too.

Treated myself to a weekend / daytrip to Des Moines from KC late June 2022. Good fortune that the DM Arts Festival was the same weekend! The best art event I have ever visited. Enjoyed it solo, but this is perfect for families & duh keds!!! Kids were having awesome fun staying busy with hands-in art projects provided by vendors.
Come on, Plaza (KC) Art fair! Compete with this!!!
