Stopped on Labor Day for an Oktoberfest beer. Live music. Plenty of outdoor seating. Food truck. Lots of people biking over, plenty of parking for cars and bikes. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Went with my sons (16 & 11). They had root beer. Locally made. Loved it. I tried a flight of 4 beers. It’s off the beaten path from Des Moines, but totally worth a visit. Clean facility & happy staff.

This is a good example of revitalizing old warehouses into more 21st Century gathering space. The large space seems to be well utilized to brew beers. I read the chalkboard stating that they had a new beer every Friday and the names of the beers were unique and had names of Des Moines landmarks. There was a bicycle path nearby. The cyclists would pop-in to ‘re-fuel’ or recharge before moving on! Quite a mixed crowd – parents with young children; adults and of course always-present millennials at any good beer-tap!
Our group tried a few beers. All beers we tasted were of good quality.

First of all, Confluence is great inside. Very modern and cool and just a nice place to sit with friends and have some drinks.
Being our first time here, we ordered a couple flights for our group and we shared them. My wife is gluten free and was able to find some great GF options.
Nearly all of the beers served here are great. High quality, craft beers served by friendly and engaging staff. What more could you ask for?

Don't let the outside appearance fool you. It's what's inside that counts. The wide choice of great tasting beers is great! Big tasting room and also large outdoor seating area. You can sample flights to determine which beers you like. Fun place. Parking can be difficult if they're hosting a large party, which happened when we visited.

Really great local beers made onsite.. The staff is friendly and helpful. great place to meet-up after work.. There is a food truck outside at times.. great destination for bicycling..

It's been well over two years since my last visit to Confluence. I'm still in love with this place. The location is perfect. It's a warehouse production facility with a bike trail running along the backside. Gray's Lake is just a stone's throw away. This is the only brewery I've visited where you walk through the production facility to get to the tap room. They've done it on purpose to create atmosphere. The path, half-walls and glass barriers mark the way. The wonderful grassy mash smell and active production put me in a great frame of mind when I arrive in the taproom.
Once you end up in the taproom, one wall is glass allowing you to keep seeing the production floor, while the opposite wall has a door and patio that looks out onto the bike trail. I can't say the decor is anything special, but it's a great atmosphere.
There were a dozen of us, so I got a sample of every beer on the menu. They have a chalkboard near the taps that list all of them including seasonal. Flight are available as well. Special and limited release options are available by bottle. Look in the cooler to the right of the taps. How the beers taste are not that important for me when rating a brewery. Taste and preferences are different for everyone. Therefore, the breadth of offering to appeal to more people is what I value. Confluence has it.

Stopped by here after reading other reviews and am so glad we did! They have a fantastic outdoor seating area and a huge taproom. We ordered a flight of beer and a pint of cider and took our tasty beverages outside to enjoy them. We sat at one of the large tables and visited with the couple sitting across from us while we drank our beer.
The brewery is located on a bike trail and is dog friendly so there were all kinds of people who were stopping by for a beer while out on the bike trail and also lots of dog lovers bringing their pets out to socialize. It was a very fun, laid back atmosphere with some great craft brew selections. Our favorite, by far, was the blue corn lager with a spicy pepper kick on the backside. We bought 2 packs of this and just finished the last one a couple of days ago. Really sorry we don't live closer so we could restock our beer fridge!

We've visited this location on numerous trips to Des Moines. The brewery is south of the downtown area in an industrial setting. The taproom is quite large inside and we noticed that they have remodeled the outdoor seating area. The outdoor patio is large and nicely done. The taproom does not serve food, but we have seen people bring their own food. We've found the beer to be good, but nothing outstanding. They did have a large selection of beers to choose from including many that we had not had before. The decor of the taproom is plain, but this place seems popular. I know they hold special events, but we have not been in town to attend any. They are part of the Des Moines brewery tour so make sure to get your password while you are there. Cheers.
