The Heritage Trail has a beautiful crushed limestone trail that makes running easy on your feet. I only ran 4 miles but the scenery was beautiful and would recommend.

Looking for a quite place to walk, jog, run or bike this is the trail. Miles and miles of trail with little or no traffic and the views are wonderful. Also a safe place to walk by yourself.

Great ride! Combines beauty and a little bit of challenge as ride out to Dyersville has the slightest of incline. Trail itself is in good shape, well packed with no ruts or overgrown areas. Many well marked parking areas to enter trail, allowing for all abilities to enjoy! Lots of beauty to see in the heart of Iowa farm country.

Nice wide trail, easy to ride on, goes through scenic countryside alongside a nice creek. At least that was our experience the first 7 miles west of Dubuque.

Crushed limestone trail that runs from Dubuque to Dyersville. 26+ miles. Paved trails in Dubuque link to limestone trail beginning at Heritage Pond about 3 miles north of Dubuque.

This place is a trail that connects the towns of Dubuque and Dyersville. Its a 26 mile crushed limestone surface. Many people use it just to walk on, like me that day. Others bike on it and was told that people use it to snowmobile and cross country ski on as well. There are pit toilets dotted along this trail. Very scenic views along this trail. Limestone bluffs; timber; river scenic overlooks; prairies; railroad and local mining sites of historical nature;there are a few interpretive sites as well; fishing is permitted here; I was in the downhill side of my day and wanted to just walk, not HIKE but walk a few miles. I saw many people out here using this trail. Many people with kids and pets or by themselves. In my opinion, this was a great way for me to cool down from a rare warm day in March, in Iowa.

This trail goes from Dubuque to Dyersville and is great for walking or bike riding. There are even a few bar stops on the way. The ride is mostly canopied so it is cool and scenic.

Parr of this trail is free to walk/ride on. There are parking areas at several locations of this 26 mile trail. We picked it up at Heritage Pond. You can prepurchase a day pass at specific establishments or pay at the trail head. This trail is very serene. Will definitely take our bikes back for a longer ride. Restrooms are located at various spots.

Any places to rent a bike near the trail?

No close place on the Heritage Trail to rent a bike. Try Bicycle World on Central Avenue. They used to rent some of their bikes. You could potentially rent a bike from them and find your way to the paved trail downtown which feeds/leads/connects to the limestone Heritage Trail. Bicycle World to the dedicated, off-road path in town would be 5-6 blocks or so.
